Matrine disrupts Nrf2/GPX4 antioxidant system and promotes hepatocyte ferroptosis
Chem Biol Interact. 2023 Sep 14:110713. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2023.110713. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMatrine (MT) is an alkaloid isolated from Sophora flavescens with various bioactivities and is widely used clinically. However, the broader its clinical use, the greater its toxicity concerns. We investigate the role of ferroptosis in MT-induced liver injury caused by an imbalance in the antioxidant pathway. Our results showed that MT could cause pathological changes in liver tissues and lead to a significant reduction in L02 cell viability. MT also reduced superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione (GSH), increased malo...

Construction of a novel ferrihydrite/MoS < sub > 2 < /sub > heterogeneous Fenton-like catalyst for efficient degradation of organic pollutants under neutral conditions
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 16. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29776-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work, we have fabricated a novel Fenton-like ferrihydrite/MoS2 (Fh/MoS2) composite and verified that the introduction of a small amount of iron on the surface of MoS2 can directly promote the exposure of Mo4+, finally enhancing the catalytic activity of the catalyst. Even though the content of iron element is only 1.19% in the composite, the reaction rate constant of Fh/MoS2 system for the degradation of environmental pollutants, such as organic dyes, antibiotic, and ionic liquid, is all much better than that of ...
