Implementation of a short-term treatment protocol in anemic patients before cardiac surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Despite some differences compared to previously described protocols, the implementation of a perioperative treatment protocol for anemic patients was associated with a reduction in PRBC transfusion in a real-world setting.PMID:37709298 | DOI:10.1055/a-2176-2218

Identification of priority pollutants at an integrated iron and steel facility based on environmental and health impacts in the Yangtze River Delta region, China
Ecotoxicol Environ Saf. 2023 Sep 11;264:115464. doi: 10.1016/j.ecoenv.2023.115464. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEmissions from the iron and steel industry are a major source of air pollution. To investigate the composition characteristics, estimate the secondary transformation potential, and assess the ecological risk and human health risks of air pollutants from iron and steel industry, field measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and trace metals (TMs) were conducted simultaneously from 2020 to 2022 in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, China. The average mixing concentration of VOCs (Σ64VOCs) was 58.2 pp...

Effect of Ferroptosis on chronic cerebral Hypoperfusion in vascular dementia
Exp Neurol. 2023 Sep 12:114538. doi: 10.1016/j.expneurol.2023.114538. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVascular dementia (VaD) is the second most prevalent type of dementia after Alzheimer's disease and is caused by impaired nerve cell function resulting from cerebrovascular disease and vascular risk factors. Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH) is a common pathological and physiological state that may result from cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, causing widespread diffuse lesions in the brain parenchyma which leads to progressive nerve damage. Transferrin (TF) and transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), two proteins involved in iron up...

Identification of a novel competing endogenous RNA network and candidate drugs associated with ferroptosis in aldosterone-producing adenomas
This study obtained datasets of the mRNA and lncRNA expression profiles for APA and adjacent adrenal gland (AAG) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and lncRNAs (DE lncRNAs) associated with ferroptosis were identified. Enrichment analyses indicated 89 ferroptosis-related DEGs were primarily enriched in ROS related processes and ferroptosis. Two physical cores, and one combined core were identified in the protein-protein interaction (PPI). DEGs and clinical traits were used in conjunction to screen eight hub genes from two hub modules and 89 DEGs. A competitive endogenous R...
