Fight Aging! Newsletter, September 11th 2023
This article reviews the current regulatory role of miR-7 in inflammation and related diseases, including viral infection, autoimmune hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and encephalitis. It expounds on the molecular mechanism by which miR-7 regulates the occurrence of inflammatory diseases. Finally, the existing problems and future development directions of miR-7-based intervention on inflammation and related diseases are discussed to provide new references and help strengthen the understanding of the pathogenesis of inflammation and related diseases, as well as the development of new strategies for clinical interventi...

Correlation of ChREBP Gene Methylation with Pathological Characteristics of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
The objective of this study is to investigate the expression of the carbohydrate response element binding protein (ChREBP) gene in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its correlation with pathological features. For obtaining and exploring the pathological features in patients, sixty T2DM patients (the research group) and thirty healthy controls (the control group) presented to our hospital between January 2019 and June 2019 were selected as the research participants. After DNA extraction from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and modification of target gene methylation with bisulfite, differences in methylation we...

Delayed euDKA Associated With Dapagliflozin After Pancreatitis
We present a case of delayed euDKA seven days after cure of acute pancreatitis and discharge from the hospital of a 51-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) managed with a combination of antidiabetic medications, including the SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin. Prior acute pancreatitis was postulated to be a contributing factor to the development of SGLT2 inhibitor-associated euDKA in this patient discharged from the hospital. The patient was managed accordingly and improved clinically while his oral hypoglycemic agents were stopped. The risk of euDKA from SGLT2 inhibitor therapy may be increased by some stress fac...

Nutrient Patterns and Bladder Cancer: A Case-Control Study in Iran
Nutr Cancer. 2023 Mar 31:1-7. doi: 10.1080/01635581.2023.2191383. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo examine the association between nutrient patterns (NP) and the risk of bladder cancer (BC) in the Iranian population, this Hospital-based case-control study was conducted with 306 participants (106 cases and 200 controls). The cases were newly diagnosed with BC (transitional cell carcinoma). Participants' past year's dietary intake was obtained via a valid 168-item Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Principal Component Analysis was applied to derive NPs considering the intake of the nutrients. Logistic regression models were...

Nutritional Status of Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients and Post-transplant Outcomes
This study investigated the relationship between nutritional status of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients pre-/post-transplant and outcomes post-transplant. A secondary data analysis was conducted of 18 patients 2-weeks pre-transplant and 3 weeks post-transplant. Nutrients/food servings analyzed from 24-dietary recalls were scored for diet quality, antioxidant status, and energy adequacy (≥75% of recommended targets). Patient outcomes included frequency/severity of gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, mucositis, % weight change, acute graft vs. host disease (aGVHD), length of stay (LOS), hospital readmission...
