Quality of Systematic Reviews on Specific Spinal Stabilization Exercise for Chronic Low Back Pain.
CONCLUSIONS: This review of SRs identified several high quality reviews which indicate some benefit of specific stabilization exercise programs for patients with non-specific chronic LBP. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapy, level 1a.J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. Epub 14 January 2013. doi:10.2519/jospt.2013.4346. PMID: 23321935 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Exercise for improving outcomes after osteoporotic vertebral fracture.
CONCLUSIONS: No definitive conclusions can be made regarding the benefits of exercise for individuals with vertebral fracture. Although individual trials did report benefits for some pain, physical function and quality of life outcomes, the findings should be interpreted with caution given that findings were inconsistent and the quality of evidence was very low. The small number of trials and variability across trials limited our ability to pool outcomes or make conclusions. Evidence regarding the effects of exercise after vertebral fracture, particularly for men, is scarce. A high-quality randomized trial is needed to inf...

Animal evidence for hyaluronic acid efficacy in knee trauma injuries. Review of animal-model studies
Conclusions: With a high strength of recommendation, intra-articular HA injections in animal models with meniscus injury improved the healing process and/or had a protective role in articular cartilage, a slightly protective role in ACL injury animal models and low or no effect on healing in articular cartilage injury animal models.

Clinical management of masticatory muscle pain : An update of the recommendations.
Abstract Besides the different forms of odontalgia, myalgias of the masticatory muscles are the most frequent noninfectious complaints in the orofacial region. After summarizing the recommendations set forth by the Interdisciplinary Working Group of Orofacial Pain within the German Chapter of the IASP (German Pain Society), we present the current state of knowledge regarding the etiology, diagnosis, and therapeutic options, based on an extensive literature search. A systematic literature search was carried out in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and the database of the Deutsche Zahnärztliche Zeitschrift. The results...

Risk Factors for Meniscal Tears: A Systematic Review Including Meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The literature indicates a number of risk factors leading to either degenerative or acute meniscal tears, with some of these factors being potentially modifiable. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Prognosis, level 2a.J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2013;43(6):352-367. Epub 29 April 2013. doi:10.2519/jospt.2013.4295KEY WORDS: diagnosis, knee, meniscus, osteoarthritis

Manual hyperinflation in airway clearance in pediatric patients: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Manual hyperinflation appeared useful for airway clearance in the investigated population, although the evidence available in the literature remains insufficient. Therefore, controlled randomized studies are needed to establish the safety and efficacy of manual hyperinflation in pediatric patients. However, manual hyperinflation must be performed by trained physical therapists only.

Effect of Virtual Reality on Upper Extremity Function in Children With Cerebral Palsy: A Meta-analysis: A Meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS:: Virtual reality is a viable tool to improve UE function in children with CP. However, a more vigorous research design is needed to make a conclusive recommendation. PMID: 24819682 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Modest cooling therapies (35ºC to 37.5ºC) for traumatic brain injury.
CONCLUSIONS: In order to further explore the preliminary findings provided by animal models and observational clinical studies that suggests there may be a beneficial effect of modest cooling for TBI, randomised trials designed to explore the effect of these interventions on patient-centred outcomes are needed. Stress Urinary Incontinence in Female Athletes
Conclusions: Health care providers should be aware of the prevalence and risk factors for SUI in female athletes. Providers can likely increase female athletes' access to SUI treatment with the knowledge of effective interventions in the general population. Further research is needed to determine the best practice for screening, diagnosis, and treatment of SUI in female athletes.

Optimal medical, rehabilitation and behavioral management in the setting of failed back surgery syndrome.
CONCLUSION: Overall, the literature provides very limited guidance on the comprehensive management of patients suffering from FBSS. There are rehabilitative interventions and behavioral protocols that demonstrate promise. Pathways based on medication management remain difficult to clearly define. Acute Effects of Muscle Fatigue on Anticipatory and Reactive Postural Control in Older Individuals: A Systematic Review of the Evidence
Conclusion:On the basis of systematic review of relevant literature, it appears that muscle fatigue induces clear deteriorations in reactive postural control. A paucity of high-quality studies examining anticipatory postural control supports the need for further research in this area. These results should serve to heighten awareness regarding the potential negative effects of acute muscle fatigue on postural control and support the examination of muscle endurance training as a fall risk intervention in future studies.

Clinical tests to diagnose lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis: A systematic review
The aim of this paper was to systematically review the diagnostic ability of clinical tests to detect lumbar spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis.A systematic literature search of six databases, with no language restrictions, from 1950 to 2014 was concluded on February 1, 2014. Clinical tests were required to be compared against imaging reference standards and report, or allow computation, of common diagnostic values. The systematic search yielded a total of 5164 articles with 57 retained for full-text examination, from which 4 met the full inclusion criteria for the review.

Gait Retraining for Injured and Healthy Runners Using Augmented Feedback: A Systematic Literature Review.
Conclusion In conjunction with traditional therapeutic interventions, real-time auditory and visual feedback should be considered in treating injured runners or addressing potentially injurious running mechanics in a healthy population.
