Elevated brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in plasma but not serum reflect in vivo functional viability of infused mesenchymal stem cells after middle cerebral artery occlusion in rat.
CONCLUSIONS: These results support the hypothesis that BDNF levels in plasma, but not serum, may be more appropriate to detect circulating BDNF in vivo following MSC infusion in a cerebral infarction rat model of ischemic stroke. Assessment of the MRI and Behavioral Test Results in Focal Cerebral Ischemia Reperfusion Model in Rat after Separate and Combined Use of Mouse-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells, Human-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells and Atorvastatin.

Intravenous infusion of mesenchymal stem cells promotes functional recovery in a rat model of chronic cerebral infarction.

Technical note: accuracy and precision in stereotactic stem cell transplantation
ConclusionsPrecise stereotactic cell transplantation is a little-studied technical challenge. Reflux of cell suspension and air, and the structure of the injection tract affect delivery of cell suspensions. Intraoperative CT allows assessment of delivery and potential trajectory correction.

Autologous mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis: an open-label phase 2a proof-of-concept study
Conclusions Autologous MSCs can be safely administered in secondary progressive MS with evidence to suggest structural, functional and physiological improvement following treatment consistent with neuroprotection. The transient treatment response seen implied a likely requirement for repeat infusions to sustain benefit in the long–term.

De Novo Arteriovenous Malformation Growth Secondary to Implantation of Genetically Modified Allogeneic Mesenchymal Stem Cells in the Brain
CONCLUSION: The development of an AVM within a period of 3 years after implantation of the glucagon-like peptide-1–secreting mesenchymal stem cells suggests a possible relationship. This case exemplifies that further investigations are necessary to assess the safety of genetically modified cell lines for local biological drug delivery in the brain. Brain repair by hematopoietic growth factors in the subacute phase of traumatic brain injury.
CONCLUSIONS SCF + G-CSF treatment in the subacute phase of TBI restored TBI-impaired spatial learning and memory, prevented posttraumatic anxiety and risk-taking behavior, inhibited TBI-induced neurodegeneration, and enhanced neural network remodeling. Prevention of neointimal hyperplasia induced by an endovascular stent via intravenous infusion of mesenchymal stem cells.
CONCLUSIONS: Intravenous infusion of MSCs inhibited the inflammatory reaction to an implanted stent strut, and prevented progressive neointimal hyperplasia in the stented CCA and SCA in a porcine model. Intra-arterial injection of mesenchymal stem cells to accelerate neointima formation after endovascular stenting in a rabbit model
CONCLUSIONS: The intra-arterial injection of MSCs after endovascular stenting accelerated early neointima formation but had no effect on thrombus formation in this study.
