Death and cardiovascular outcomes in end-stage renal failure patients on different modalities of dialysis
CONCLUSION: The short-term incidence of death and AMI remains high in Singapore. Future studies should investigate the benefits of a tighter control of cardiovascular risk factors among ESRF patients on dialysis.PMID:35373236 | DOI:10.47102/annals-acadmedsg.20219

Gender Difference of Blood Pressure Control Rate and Clinical Prognosis in Patients With Resistant Hypertension: Real-World Observation Study
CONCLUSION: In resistant hypertension, men were younger than women, but end-organ damage was more common and the risk of cardiovascular event was higher. More intensive cardiovascular prevention strategies may be required in male patients with resistant hypertension.PMID:37096308 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e124

Evaluation of the effect of sodium zirconium cyclosilicate on arrhythmia-related cardiovascular outcomes in patients receiving chronic haemodialysis with hyperkalaemia: protocol for the multicentre, randomised, controlled DIALIZE-Outcomes study
Introduction Patients with kidney failure receiving chronic haemodialysis have elevated risk of arrhythmias potentially increasing the likelihood of sudden cardiac death, stroke and hospitalisation. The DIALIZE study (NCT03303521) demonstrated that sodium zirconium cyclosilicate (SZC) was an efficacious and well-tolerated treatment for predialysis hyperkalaemia in patients undergoing haemodialysis. The DIALIZE-Outcomes study evaluates the effect of SZC on sudden cardiac death and arrhythmia-related cardiovascular outcomes in patients receiving chronic haemodialysis with recurrent hyperkalaemia. Methods and analysis Intern...

Long-term outcomes of left atrial appendage occlusion in patients with atrial fibrillation and end stage renal disease
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term outcomes of LAAO therapy may be less favorable in patients with AF undergoing dialysis, possibly because of the poor condition of patients with ESRD.PMID:37394333 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2023.06.016

Decrease in ankle-brachial index over time and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with hemodialysis.
CONCLUSIONS: : This longitudinal study showed ΔABI < -0.3 was independently associated with an increase in CV events. Hence, a great decrease in ABI over time might be a useful indicator of poor CV prognosis in hemodialysis patients. PMID: 23190561 [PubMed - in process]

Characteristics of serum C1q-binding adiponectin in patients on maintenance hemodialysis: C1q-binding adiponectin in hemodialysis patients
Conclusions: Low serum C1q-APN and C1q-APN/C1q ratio, but not C1q-APN/Total-APN ratio, correlated with ACVD in HD patients.Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov: UMIN 000004318https://upload.umin.ac.jp/cgi-open-bin/ctr/ctr.cgi?function=brows&action=brows&type=summary&recptno=R000005173&language=E

HMG CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) for dialysis patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Statins have little or no beneficial effects on mortality or cardiovascular events and uncertain adverse effects in adults treated with dialysis despite clinically relevant reductions in serum cholesterol levels. PMID: 24022428 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
