Antiphospholipid Syndrome Diagnosed as a Result of the Occurrence of an Ischemic Stroke After a Successful Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation and Continuous Direct Oral Anticoagulants
We report a case of an ischemic stroke after a successful catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and continuous oral anticoagulation therapy with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), which was the trigger for diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). A 68-year-old woman underwent catheter ablation of persistent AF and continued oral anticoagulation with edoxaban at a dose of 30 mg once daily after the ablation procedure. An asymptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage was detected by brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging one month post-ablation. Oral anticoagulation with dabigatran at 110 mg twice daily...

C-Reactive Protein Predicts Hematoma Growth in Intracerebral Hemorrhage Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— CRP>10 mg/L is independently predictive of EHG and ENW, both of which are associated with increased mortality. Inflammation may be important in contributing to EHG and warrants further investigation.

Observation of Clinical Efficacy of Anisodamine and Chlorpromazine in the Treatment of Intractable Hiccup after Stroke
CONCLUSION: The combination of 2D K-L divergence and MPSO algorithm could improve the accuracy of multilayer image segmentation and CT imaging. Acupoint injection of anisodamine combined with chlorpromazine had better efficacy than the injection of anisodamine alone for the treatment of intractable hiccups after stroke, with high safety and clinical promotion value.PMID:35915796 | PMC:PMC9338746 | DOI:10.1155/2022/6563193

Intracerebral Hematoma Morphologic Appearance on Noncontrast Computed Tomography Predicts Significant Hematoma Expansion Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Fluid levels, density heterogeneity, and margin irregularity on noncontrast CT are associated with hematoma expansion at 24 hours. These markers may assist in prediction of outcomes in scenarios where CT angiography is not readily available and may be of future help in refining the predictive value of the CT angiography spot sign.

Safety of Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke in Patients on Novel Oral Anticoagulants (P1.196)
Conclusion: Patients on NOAC undergoing mechanical thrombectomy show a trend towards increased sICH compared to the warfarin group. This may warrant larger studies of safety of mechanical thrombectomy in the presence of NOACs.Disclosure: Dr. Sharma has nothing to disclose. Dr. Atchaneeyasakul has nothing to disclose. A Case of Transient Global Amnesia: A Review and How It May Shed Further Insight into the Neurobiology of Delusions
Conclusion In closing, our patient’s episode of TGA combined with her emotional and perceptual response lends credence to the proposal of a “fear/paranoia” circuit in the genesis of paranoid delusions—a circuit incorporating amygdala, frontal, and parietal cortices. Here, neutral or irrelevant stimuli, thoughts, and percepts come to engender fear and anxiety, while dysfunction in frontoparietal circuitry engenders inappropriate social predictions and maladaptive inferences about the intentions of others.[54] Hippocampus relays information about contextual information based on past experiences and the current situat...

A Study of Srum Homocysteine Level in Ischaemic Stoke
CONCLUSION: The present study revealed that hyperhomocysteinemia appears to be an important risk factor for ischemic stroke. It is therefore important to use serum homocysteine as an important tool to investigate all cases of ischemic stroke and if serum homocysteine is elevated patient should be put on multivitamins containing vitamin B12, folic acid and pyridoxine to reduce serum homocysteine levels.PMID:35443421
