Acute thrombotic occlusion involving three coronary arteries. A unique association with COVID ‐19 pneumonia
Proximal Left Anterior Descending artery (LAD) 100% thrombotic occlusion and distal Left circumflex artery (LCX) 100% thrombotic occlusion. B. distal Right Coronary artery (RCA) 100% thrombotic occlusion. C. Post-percutaneous coronary intervention to LAD and LCX Key Clinical MessageRespiratory viruses, particularly COVID-19, can be associated with severe cases of myocardial infarction (MI). Physicians should have a low threshold for MI in COVID-19 patients who present with persistent chest pain as MI in rapidly deteriorating cases can be missed. Prompt response includes both timely diagnosis and swift treatment.AbstractThe...

Assessing risk of major adverse cardiac event among COVID-19 patients using HEART score
This study aims to identify the impact and association of COVID-19 co-infection in patients presenting with chest pain and a calculated HEART score to the emergency departments (ED) with 30-day of major adverse cardiac event (MACE). This is a multicenter, retrospective observational study that included adult (age  ≥ 18 years) patients visiting 13 different EDs with chest pain and evaluated using a HEART score. The primary outcome was the percentage of 30-day MACE, which included acute myocardial infarction, emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), or dea th among patie...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 337: Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Patients with ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Complicated by Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest
In conclusion, the periprocedural outcomes in STEMI complicated by OHCA were comparable before and during the COVID-19 era. However, treatment in the COVID-19 outbreak was associated with a longer time from first medical contact to reperfusion.

Discussion on the causes of thrombolysis failure in a patient with STEMI: a case report
CONCLUSION: This was a case of failed STEMI thrombolysis in our hospital during the outbreak of COVID-19. This case indicates that doctors need to consider the cause of the disease when treating STEMI patients, especially patients without traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Moreover, CAG and intracoronary imaging examinations should be actively performed to identify the aetiology and improve the treatment success rate.PMID:36348268 | DOI:10.1186/s12872-022-02922-0

Stent thrombosis during COVID ‐19 pandemic: A case series
AbstractThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic originated from Wuhan, China, in late 2019. In addition to the respiratory system, COVID-19 also affects other organ systems. The disease can lead to cardiovascular complications such as myocarditis, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, and venous thromboembolism; patients with COVID-19 experience more thrombotic events than non-COVID-19 patients. A 50-year-old male cigarette smoker presented to the emergency department (ED) with typical chest pain. His electrocardiography (ECG) showed an anterior STEMI. He developed multiple episodes of ventricular fibr...

Symptomatology, prognosis and clinical findings of STEMI as a ramification of COVID-19: A systematic review and proportion meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Our findings show that most cases have been found in males, while the most common risk factors were Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus. In most COVID-19 cases with ST-segment myocardial infarction, most hospitalized patients underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention instead of fibrinolysis. The in-hospital mortality was significantly higher, making this report significant. As the sample size and reported study are considerably less, it warrants a further large-scale investigation to generalize it.PMID:35284069 | PMC:PMC8902059 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.103429

Acute Myocardial Infarction and COVID-19 in a Known Case of Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis
Arch Iran Med. 2021 Apr 1;24(4):339-340. doi: 10.34172/aim.2021.48.ABSTRACTSince the emergence of novel coronavirus and the disease named as COVID-19 in late December of 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, many aspects of this disease have been reported in the literature (mainly pulmonary manifestations). In patients with COVID-19, rheumatic and cardiovascular manifestations and interactions were reported separately, but they were all very rare. This is the report of a 14-year-old teenager with GPA (previously known as Wegner's granulomatosis) who was in remission with immunosuppressive therapy. Post COVID-19 infection, ...
