Vaccination coverage in children under one year of age and associated socioeconomic factors: maps of spatial heterogeneity
CONCLUSIONS: the results are useful for designing interventions regarding the structuring of vaccination services and the implementation of actions to increase vaccination coverage in clusters with less propensity to vaccinate.PMID:37729269 | DOI:10.1590/0034-7167-2022-0734

Single-cell analysis of the miRNA activities in tuberculous meningitis (TBM) model mice injected with the BCG vaccine
CONCLUSION: In our study, an in-depth exploration of the mRNA expression and miRNA activity of macrophages, microglia, epididymal cells, neurons and vascular smooth muscle cells during TBM progression was conducted using scRNA-Seq, which provided novel insights into the immune cell engagement in TBM patients.PMID:37708706 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110871

Assessment of Disease Burden and Immunization Rates for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in People Living with HIV: The Korea HIV/AIDS Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: The burden of vaccine-preventable diseases was quite high in HIV-infected patients. Nadir CD4 T-cell counts, peak HIV viral loads, and the number of ART regimen change are significant factors related to vaccination. Considering the low vaccination rates for VPDs, there was a discordance between experts' opinions and real clinical practice in the medical field.PMID:37674339 | DOI:10.3947/ic.2023.0045

Antibodies against Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W and Y in serum and saliva of Norwegian adolescents
CONCLUSION: Unvaccinated adolescents in Norway have a low degree of natural immunity against the serogroups of N. meningitidis predominating among cases of IMD in this age group. Therefore, introduction of MCV4 for adolescents in the NIP is recommended.PMID:37648606 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.08.052

Exploring missed opportunities for influenza vaccination and influenza vaccine co-administration patterns among Italian older adults: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: A sizeable proportion of older adults who received other recommended vaccines during the last influenza season did not receive SIV. This share of missed opportunities, which are subject to some social inequalities, may be addressed by increasing vaccine co-administration rates and implementing tailored health promotion interventions.PMID:37632235 | DOI:10.1093/eurpub/ckad155

Effectiveness of 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine on all-cause pneumonia in children under 5  years in Shanghai, China: An observational study
CONCLUSIONS: PCV13 vaccination among children aged 0-5 years substantially reduced the incidence of all-cause pneumonia. Direct immunization of children under 5 years is an effective strategy to combat outpatient pneumonia, and hospitalized pneumonia.PMID:37620204 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.08.041

The serotype-specific prevalence of pneumococci in hospitalized pneumonia patients with COPD: a prospective, multi-center, cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Serotypes 22F, 6A, and 6B, which are covered either by PPV 23 or by PCV 13, are still common pneumococcal serotypes in COPD pneumonia in the post-vaccination era in Korea.PMID:37586811 | DOI:10.3904/kjim.2023.152
