Perfusion index for early identification of regional anesthesia effectiveness: a narrative review
Minerva Anestesiol. 2023 Feb 17. doi: 10.23736/S0375-9393.23.17065-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRegional anesthesia (RA) is a common and irreplaceable technique in clinical, which can be used in different surgery sites and control of acute and chronic pain, especially for outpatients, pediatrics and the elderly. RA demands are increasing during COVID-19 pandemic because many surgeries could be performed under RA to reduce the risk of cross-infection between patients and health care workers. Early and accurate identification of the effects of RA can help physicians make timely decisions about whether to supplement analg...

The Validation of Cardiac Index and Stroke-Volume Variation Measured by the Pulse-Wave Transit Time-Analysis Versus Conventional Pulse-Contour Analysis After Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: Observational Study
To compare the reliability of cardiac index (CI) and stroke-volume variation (SVV) measured by the pulse-wave transit-time (PWTT) method using estimated continuous cardiac output (esCCO) technique with conventional pulse-contour analysis after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB).

Brain tissue oxygenation monitoring in subarachnoid hemorrhage for the detection of delayed ischemia: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: PbtO<inf>2</inf> values were significantly lower in patients with DCI. Waiting for definitive results, monitoring of PbtO<inf>2</inf> should be considered as a complementary parameter for multimodal monitoring of the risk of DCI in patients with SAH.PMID:36745118 | DOI:10.23736/S0375-9393.22.16468-0

Combined Arterial Hypertension and Ischemic Stroke Exaggerate Anesthesia-Related Hypotension and Cerebral Oxygenation Deficits: A Preclinical Study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings are the first demonstration that ischemic stroke per se increases the severity of IOH, particularly when combined with a prior history of hypertension; this combination appears to compromise penumbral perfusion.PMID:36730724 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000006263

Patient characteristics and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction presenting without ischemic pain: Insights from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study
CONCLUSIONS: Future research should focus on differences in treatment delay across ischemic pain presentations rather than sex differences in acute coronary syndrome presentation.PMID:36713888 | PMC:PMC9879363 | DOI:10.1016/j.ahjo.2022.100239

Intraoperative blood product transfusion in pediatric cardiac surgery patients: a retrospective review of adverse outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Transfusion of blood products following cardiopulmonary bypass is associated with postoperative adverse outcomes. Future studies aimed at strategies to reduce intraoperative bleeding and decrease the amount of blood products administered are warranted.PMID:36695635 | DOI:10.1111/pan.14637
