Front Public Health. 2023 Aug 3;11:1186107. doi: 10.3389/fpubh.2023.1186107. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTApproximately 60 million people require palliative care worldwide, and nearly 80% of them live in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Involving adolescents and young adults (AYA) with an uncertain or poor cancer prognosis as research partners
CONCLUSION: The benefits of involving AYAs with a UPCP as research partners cannot be stressed enough, both for the study as well as for the AYAs themselves, but there are challenges. Researchers should anticipate and address those challenges during the planning phase of the study. This article provides practical tips on how to do so.PMID:37504887 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2238554

Palliation, end of life care and ventilation withdrawal in neuromuscular disorders
CONCLUSIONS: The principles of palliative care are well suited to addressing the complex needs of patients with NMDs and should be considered early in the course of illness rather than limited to care at the end of life. Embedding relationships with specialist palliative care services as part of the wider neuromuscular multidisciplinary team can facilitate staff education and ensure timely referral when more complex palliative care problems arise.PMID:37199317 | DOI:10.1177/14799731231175911
