Performance Assessment of Communicable Disease Surveillance in Disasters: A Systematic Review
Conclusion Performance assessment is an integral component of the management of all organizations and the lack of performance assessment is considered a significant sign of weakness in an organization. Therefore, the lack of accepted mechanisms for the assessment of the performance of CDS systems in response to disasters is an important weakness. Although some studies attempted to assess surveillance systems, the results of this systematic literature review suggest that there is no clear and comprehensive assessment framework in place. While the CDC framework has been used in some studies, it is not specific for SS in resp...

Informant Questionnaire on Cognitive Decline in the Elderly (IQCODE) for the detection of dementia within a general practice (primary care) setting
CONCLUSIONS: It is not possible to give definitive guidance on the test accuracy of IQCODE for the diagnosis of dementia in a primary care setting based on the single study identified. We are surprised by the lack of research using the IQCODE in primary care as this is, arguably, the most appropriate setting for targeted case finding of those with undiagnosed dementia in order to maximise opportunities to intervene and provide support for the individual and their carers.PMID:34278564 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD010771.pub3

Results showed that cognitive reappraisal was positively related to job search behavior, while expressive suppression was negatively related to job search behavior. Additionally, anxiety was negatively related to job search behavior, while job search self-efficacy was positively associated with job search behavior. Moreo...

Regional Cerebral Blood Flow Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography for detection of Frontotemporal dementia in people with suspected dementia.
CONCLUSIONS: At present, we would not recommend the routine use of rCBF SPECT in clinical practice because there is insufficient evidence from the available literature to support this.Further research into the use of rCBF SPECT for differentiating FTD from other dementias is required. In particular, protocols should be standardised, study populations should be well described, the threshold for 'abnormal' scans predefined and clear details given on how scans are analysed. More prospective cohort studies that verify the presence or absence of FTD during a period of follow up should be undertaken. PMID: 26102272 [PubMed ...

Training faculty search committees to improve racial and ethnic diversity in hiring.
There is a critical need to hire faculty from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds at universities around the United States. Internal faculty consultants may help to address this need by training faculty members who serve on search committees about bias and inequities that affect the search process along with ways to avoid them. This case study seeks to guide internal faculty consultants in the United States who do this work and to address the paucity of academic attention to the process of finding workshops, securing support, and ultimately implementing such training. Specifically, this case study describes (a) ...
