Comparison of Early Versus Late Adjunctive Vasopressin and Corticosteroids in Patients With Septic Shock
CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE: Our study addressed a major gap in the literature and suggests that adding the combination of VP and HC within 12 hours of septic shock may be associated with improved patient outcomes.PMID:37542417 | DOI:10.1177/10600280231191131

Infectious Complications in Patients With Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Treated With Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors
CONCLUSION: In this large single-institution study we identify that more than half of patients with ICI-treated NSCLC develop infectious complications. We identify that patients with COPD, recent corticosteroid use, and concomitant irAE and infection have higher odds of hospitalization, and that unusual infections (eg, fungal) can occur. This highlights clinical awareness of infections as important complications during ICI therapy in patients with NSCLC.PMID:37419702 | DOI:10.1016/j.cllc.2023.06.011

ACAAI members' preferred step 1-3 asthma maintenance and reliever therapy and incomplete insurance coverage indicated as main practice hurdle
CONCLUSION: Asthma therapy varies among physicians, with respondents suggesting underutilization of the recommended anti-inflammatory rescue and SMART therapy. A major hurdle is lack of insurance coverage of medication in line with guidelines.PMID:37328056 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.05.036

Are There Differences in Pain Reduction and Functional Improvement Among Splint Alone, Steroid Alone, and Combination for the Treatment of Adults With Trigger Finger?
CONCLUSION: Splinting alone is recommended as the initial treatment for adults with trigger finger because there were no clinically important differences between splinting alone and steroid injection alone in terms of pain reduction and symptom or functional improvement up to 1 year. The combination of steroid injection and splinting is disadvantageous because the benefits in terms of pain reduction and symptom or functional improvement are not different from those achieved with steroid injection or splinting alone.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level I, therapeutic study.PMID:37083487 | DOI:10.1097/CORR.0000000000002662

Comparison of corticosteroid injection, physiotherapy and combined treatment for patients with chronic subacromial bursitis - A randomised controlled trial
CONCLUSION: Corticosteroid subdeltoid injection, or combined with physiotherapy, was superior to physiotherapy alone, but the recurrence rate was least in the physiotherapy group.PMID:37021475 | DOI:10.1177/02692155231166220

Longitudinal Patient-reported Outcomes in Patients Receiving Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy
Blood Adv. 2023 Mar 30:bloodadvances.2022009117. doi: 10.1182/bloodadvances.2022009117. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCAR-T cell therapy has transformed treatment for relapsed/refractory hematologic malignancies but has complex logistics and unique toxicities. Data examining the patient-reported outcomes (PROs) of CAR-T recipients are limited. We conducted a longitudinal study of adults with hematologic malignancies receiving CAR-T at a single academic center. We assessed quality of life (QOL) (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General), psychological distress (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Patient Health Qu...
