An augmented cognitive behavioural therapy for treating post-stroke depression: description of a treatment protocol.
We present a new psychological intervention designed to reduce depressive complaints after stroke.
METHOD OF PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT: This intervention was based on cognitive behavioural therapy principles and was shown feasible in a pilot study. In order to meet the specific needs of stroke patients (concerning both sensori-motor, cognitive, and behavioural problems), we incorporated motivational interviewing, grief resolution, and psycho-education. Self-perceived Burden in the Young and Middle-aged Inpatients with Stroke: A Cross-sectional Survey.
CONCLUSIONS: The present study indicates that SPB is a prevalent inner feeling among young and middle-aged inpatients with stroke in China and that it is associated with an array of variables, including social support, quality of life, distressful mood, and several demographic characteristics.
CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The findings of this study may help rehabilitation nurses plan and implement health education, effectively and efficiently use healthcare resources, so as to better care the young and middle-aged stroke patients as well as promote their rehabilitation.

An exploration of factors influencing physical activity levels amongst a cohort of people living in the community after stroke in the south of England.
CONCLUSIONS: Almost half of the survey cohort reported PA levels insufficient to meet current guidelines. Similar to barriers reported in previous studies in USA and other parts of the UK, numerous interlinking and overlapping personal, interpersonal, and environmental barriers to undertaking PA were identified. Call for human contact and support: an interview study exploring patients' experiences with inpatient stroke rehabilitation and their perception of nurses' and nurse assistants' roles and functions.
CONCLUSION: The findings deepen our understanding of how patients experience inpatient rehabilitation. The patients struggled with existential thoughts and concerns about the future and therefore called for human contact and support from the nursing staff. They perceived the nursing staff as mostly polite and helpful, but were unclear about the nursing staff's function in rehabilitation which, in the patients' perspective, equals physical training. Every person is an individual: physical therapist clinical reasoning used in inpatient rehabilitation for walking assistive device prescription in patients with stroke and brain injury.
Conclusions: Results from this study revealed complexity in the clinical reasoning process used in physical therapy practice to determine the best walking assistive device for patients with stroke and brain injury during inpatient rehabilitation. Factors Associated With Non-enrollment of Center-Based Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program Among Transient Ischemic Attack or Mild Stroke Patients: A MIXED-METHOD RETROSPECTIVE STUDY.
CONCLUSIONS: This study found that patients with TIA or mild stroke who were older, lived farther from the CRP center, or were current smokers were less likely to enroll in a CRP. The present findings may help clinicians identify patients unlikely to enroll in a CRP and allow the implementation of interventions focused on health education and physical activity to improve enrollment. Future research should validate these factors in multiple settings using prospective mixed methods so that interventions can be developed to address non-enrollment in the CRP.

A qualitative study exploring patients' and carers' experiences of Early Supported Discharge services after stroke.
Conclusions:Accelerated hospital discharge and home-based rehabilitation was perceived positively by service users. The study findings highlight the need for Early Supported Discharge teams to address information and support needs of patients and carers and to monitor their impact on carers in addition to patients, using robust outcome measures.
