This article reviews the current regulatory role of miR-7 in inflammation and related diseases, including viral infection, autoimmune hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and encephalitis. It expounds on the molecular mechanism by which miR-7 regulates the occurrence of inflammatory diseases. Finally, the existing problems and future development directions of miR-7-based intervention on inflammation and related diseases are discussed to provide new references and help strengthen the understanding of the pathogenesis of inflammation and related diseases, as well as the development of new strategies for clinical interventi...

Does Metformin in Different Doses Cause Vitamin B12 Deficiency? A cross-Sectional Study
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Feb 28;69(2):45-51. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.2.8.ABSTRACTThe use of metformin in diabetic patients causes vitamin B12 deficiency, but there is not enough evidence about the existence of a correlation between different doses of metformin and vit B12 deficiency. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the correlation between different doses of metformin and vitamin B12 deficiency. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 200 patients with type 2 diabetes referred to the diabetes clinic of the central hospital of Sulaimani city in 2022. Demographic data were c...

Metabolic Complications of Glucocorticoids - Prevention by Metformin
Ann Endocrinol (Paris). 2023 May 18:S0003-4266(23)00105-1. doi: 10.1016/j.ando.2023.05.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlucocorticoid treatment is prescribed in 2-3% of the population for various diseases. Chronic exposure to excess glucocorticoid can lead to iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome, which is associated with increased morbidity, especially from cardiovascular diseases and infections. While several 'steroid-sparing' drugs have been introduced, glucocorticoid treatment is still applied in a large number of patients. We have previously showed that the enzyme AMPK plays a key role in mediating the metabolic effects of...

A Case of Possible Levetiracetam Induced Aseptic Meningitis vs Viral Meningitis
DISCUSSION: In 2018, McDonald et al documented the first case of probable levetiracetam-related antiepileptic induced meningitis (AEIM). The mainstay of treatment is discontinuing the offending agent. Resolution of symptoms is typically 2 to 3 days after drug discontinuation as seen in this patient case report. Symptomatic resolution within days of stopping the suspected offending drug has been observed in all reported cases of AEIM where 1 to 2 weeks is generally seen with viral meningitis. Applying the Naranjo Scale yields a score of 4, which indicates possible levetiracetam-induced meningitis in this adult patient. Prov...
