The correlation between vitamin B12 and folate levels and bone mineral density among the Saudi population in a primary care setting
CONCLUSION: Vitamin B12 is associated with fracture risk; however, vitamin B12 and folate levels are not correlated to BMD (femoral neck and lumbar spine).PMID:37636170 | PMC:PMC10451589 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_1209_22

Effect of infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 on the fetus in pregnant women who recovered from infection
CONCLUSION: Maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy was associated with a higher prevalence of small for gestational age (SGA) fetuses.LIMITATIONS: Retrospective, middle cerebral artery and uterine artery Doppler data were not included nor were the effect of tobacco use and socioeconomic status, the relationship between the date of infection with the date of conceiving or the relationship between the severity of infection in the mother and fetal biometry and growth.CONFLICT OF INTEREST: None.PMID:37554020 | DOI:10.5144/0256-4947.2023.213

Enhancing the CO < sub > 2 < /sub > trapping capacity of Saudi Arabian basalt via nanofluid treatment: Implications for CO < sub > 2 < /sub > geo-storage
Chemosphere. 2023 Jun 5:139135. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.139135. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMineralization reactions in basaltic formations have gained recent interest as an effective method for CO2 geo-storage in order to mitigate anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. The CO2/rock interactions, including interfacial tension and wettability, are crucial factors in determining the CO2 trapping capacity and the feasibility of CO2 geological storage in these formations. The Red Sea geological coast in Saudi Arabia has many basaltic formations, and their wetting characteristics are rarely reported in the literature...

Assessment of long-term mangrove distribution using optimised machine learning algorithms and landscape pattern analysis
In this study, an advanced machine learning algorithm was proposed to produce an accurate and precise high-resolution land use map that includes mangroves in the Al Wajh Bank habitat in northeastern Saudi Arabia. To achieve this, high-resolution multispectral images were generated using an image fusion technique, and machine learning algorithms were applied, including artificial neural networks, random forests and support vector machine algorithms. The performance of the models was evaluated using various matrices, and changes in mangrove distribution and connectivity were assessed using the landscape fragmentation model a...

Use of Flash Glucose Monitoring and Glycemic Control in Patients with Type  2 Diabetes Mellitus Not Treated with an Intensive Insulin Regimen: 1-Year Real-Life Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Continuous use of isCGM demonstrated reductions in HbA1c levels for patients with T2DM not on an intensive insulin regimen. The GMI values showed high levels of agreement with measured HbA1c, indicating their accuracy in glucose management.PMID:37133646 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02508-y

Radix molaris is a hidden truth of mandibular first permanent molars: A descriptive- analytic study using cone beam computed tomography
CONCLUSION: The study showed that RE prevalence is more compared to RP in the first lower molars in the population studied. It is important to identify extra roots and associated canals to perform successful root canal treatment and avoid failure.PMID:37125592 | DOI:10.3233/THC-230300
