Borderzone Infarction and Small Vessel Disease in a Sample of Egyptian Stroke Patients: Differences and Similarities
Conclusion: Limb shaking, retinal claudication or syncope, with MRI showing rosary pattern of white matter hyperintensity, few microbleeds and markedly impaired perfusion favor the diagnosis of borderzone infarctions. On the other hand, presence of lacunae, FLAIR showing symmetrical WMH and microbleeds with minimal or no perfusion deficit suggests the diagnosis of small vessel disease.

Spectrum of Eye Disease in Diabetes (SPEED) in India: A prospective facility-based study. Report # 3. Retinal vascular occlusion in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Conclusion: RVO is a frequent finding in people with T2DM. History of stroke carries the highest risk followed by HTN. The management of people with T2DM and RVO must also include comanagement of all associated systemic conditions.

Ocular manifestations in patients with cerebrovascular accidents in India: a cross-sectional observational study
ConclusionsOphthalmic manifestations were seen in 90% of stroke survivors. Their presence in majority of the patients in our cohort suggests that earliest routine ophthalmic examination should be mandatory in all patients with acute stroke.

Epidemiology of a Rare Event
Retinal emboli are rare, with a prevalence in most of the relatively few studies on the subject, to my knowledge, of approximately 1 in 100 adults and an even smaller annual incidence. The study by Cheung et al in the present issue ofJAMA Ophthalmology involves the multiethnic population of Singapore and found that retinal emboli were present in only 88 of 9978 individuals who had retinal photographs (0.9%).
