Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Stroke-Exploratory Analysis of the GOPCABE Trial and Methodological Considerations.
CONCLUSION: Within recent prospective randomized multicenter trials off-pump CABG did not result in lower stroke rates. The possible intrinsic benefit of off-pump CABG may be offset by the complexity of the operative therapy as well as the multiple pathomechanisms involved in perioperative stroke.

Abbott ’s Amplatzer Stroke Reduction Data Is Strong at EuroPCR
Abbott Laboratories’ Amplatzer Amulet left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion device has been shown at one year to reduce stroke by 57% as compared to the predicted stroke risk. The data also showed it was able to make this reduction without the need for lifetime blood thinners.
The Abbott Park IL-based company released the data at EuroPCR, the annual meeting of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions in Paris, and simultaneously published in EuroIntervention. More than 1,078 patients suffering from atrial fibrillation (Afib) were in the study with one-year-follow up.

Impact of stroke on affective well-being: findings from a large longitudinal nationally representative study.
Conclusion: Panel regression models showed that the incidence of stroke was associated with a decline in positive affect in the total sample and in both sexes. As the general self-efficacy moderated this association, it may be beneficial to enhance self-efficacy and prioritize coping strategies among stroke survivals.

Only a Minority of Thrombectomy Candidates Are Admitted During Night Shift: A Rationale for Diurnal Stroke Care Planning
Conclusions: A two-shift model, excluding the night shift, would cover 90% of the patients with severe AIS. A model with coverage during working hours would miss ~40% of the patients with severe AIS. To achieve a quick and area-wide MT, it seems preferable for newly implemented MT-units to offer MT in a two-shift model at a minimum.
