Effect of Intensive Blood Pressure Control on Carotid Morphology and Hemodynamics in Chinese Patients with Hyperhomocysteinemia-Type Hypertension and High Risk of Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS Intensive blood pressure management could be beneficial for Chinese patients with hyperhomocysteinemia-type hypertension and high risk of stroke. PMID: 31369520 [PubMed - in process]

The Association Between the Use of Antiarrhythmic Drugs in Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation and Patient Prognosis Using Data from the China Atrial Fibrillation (China-AF) Registry.
CONCLUSIONS AAD usage was associated with lower risk of 1-year all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death in "real-world" patients with NVAF. PMID: 31256190 [PubMed - in process]

Electroacupuncture Alleviates Ischemic Brain Injury by Inhibiting the miR-223/NLRP3 Pathway.
CONCLUSIONS These data suggest that EA treatment can alleviate neuroinflammation by inhibiting the miR-223/NLRP3 pathway, thus playing a neuroprotective role in MCAO in rats. PMID: 31237865 [PubMed - in process]

Warfarin therapy in Chinese patients with atrial fibrillation treated with percutaneous coronary intervention: a 5-year follow-up retrospective cohort study.
Conclusions: Warfarin reduces the incidence of MACCEs but does not increase bleeding events in Chinese patients with AF who underwent PCI. For patients taking warfarin, recurrent myocardial infarction and a baseline CHA2DS2-VASc score >4 were related to MACCE occurrence. PMID: 31144555 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Impact of serum omentin-1 levels on functional prognosis in nondiabetic patients with ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: In this cohort of nondiabetic patients with ischemic stroke, a reduced baseline level of serum omentin-1 was related with an increased risk for poor functional outcome or death, independent of baseline variables. PMID: 30972209 [PubMed]

Long-Term Persistence with Newly-Initiated Warfarin or Non-VKA Oral Anticoagulant (NOAC) in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation: Insights from the Prospective China-AF Registry.
CONCLUSIONS Treatment persistence of NOACs was lower than that of warfarin among Chinese patients with AF. Patients with characteristics of non-persistence predictors need special attention to maintain their therapy. PMID: 30971681 [PubMed - in process]

Translation and Initial Validation of the Chinese Version of the Action Research Arm Test in People with Stroke.
Conclusions: The C-ARAT demonstrated excellent internal consistency and good-to-excellent concurrent validity. This test could be used to evaluate upper extremity function in stroke patients without cognitive impairment. PMID: 30805366 [PubMed - in process]

Influences of Corydalis decumbens on the Activities of CYP450 Enzymes in Rats with a Cocktail Approach.
Abstract Corydalis decumbens, a Traditional Chinese Medicine, has been widely used for the alternative and/or complementary therapy of hypertension, arrhythmias rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica, stroke, hemiplegia, paraplegia, and vascular embolism. The aim of this study was to determinate the potential effects of Corydalis decumbens on the five cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme activities (CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, and CYP2D6) by cocktail approach. To evaluate whether concurrent use of Corydalis decumbens interferes with the effect of several prescription drugs, saline (control group) or Corydalis decumbens (XTW ...

Evaluation of the Influence of Etiological Factors on the Economic Burden of Ischemic Stroke in Younger Patients in China Using the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) Classification.
CONCLUSIONS In the younger patient population in China, etiological factors influenced the economic burden of ischemic stroke. PMID: 30666992 [PubMed - in process]

Associations of miR-146a, miR-149, miR-196a2, and miR-499 Polymorphisms with Ischemic Stroke in the Northern Chinese Han Population.
CONCLUSIONS Our study suggested that miR-146a C>G and miR-149 T>C polymorphisms might remarkably increase the risk of IS, which might be mainly associated with an increased risk in LAA stroke; however, the miR-196a2 T>C and miR-499 A>G polymorphisms might not be associated with IS risk in the northern Chinese Han population. Rs4612666 Polymorphism of the NLRP3 Gene Is Associated with the Occurrence of Large Artery Atherosclerotic Ischemic Strokes and Microembolic Signals.
Conclusions: The NLRP3 rs4612666 gene polymorphism may be related to the occurrence of LAA IS and MES, suggesting that the NLRP3 gene polymorphism increases the susceptibility of LAA IS by changing the plaque vulnerability. PMID: 29850543 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Prevalence of Abnormal Glucose Regulation according to Different Diagnostic Criteria in Ischaemic Stroke without a History of Diabetes.
Abstract We aimed to investigate the prevalence and distribution of abnormal glucose regulation, including prediabetes and newly diagnosed diabetes, according to different criteria in ischaemic stroke patients without a history of diabetes. Data were derived from a representative cohort across China. Prediabetes was defined as fasting plasma glucose (FPG) 5.6-6.9 mmol/L or 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) 7.8-11.0 mmol/L or haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) 5.7-6.4%. Newly diagnosed diabetes was defined as FPG ≥ 7.0 mmol/L, 2 h OGTT ≥ 11.1 mmol/L or HbA1c ≥ 6.5%. Among 1251 ischaemic stroke patients...

Risk Factors, Clinical Features and Prognosis for Subtypes of Ischemic Stroke in a Chinese Population
SummaryIt is unanimously accepted that stroke is a highly heterogeneous disorder. Different subtypes of ischemic stroke may have different risk factors, clinical features, and prognoses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk factors, clinical characteristics, and prognoses of different subtypes of ischemic stroke defined by the Trial of ORG10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) criteria. We prospectively analyzed the data from 530 consecutive patients who were admitted to our hospital with acute ischemic stroke within 7 days of stroke onset during the study period. Standardized data assessment was used and the ca...
