Clinical Evidence of Exercise Benefits for Stroke.
Authors: Han P, Zhang W, Kang L, Ma Y, Fu L, Jia L, Yu H, Chen X, Hou L, Wang L, Yu X, Kohzuki M, Guo Q Abstract Even though stroke is the third, not the first, most common cause of disability-adjusted life years in developed countries, it is one of the most expensive to treat. Part of the expense is due to secondary problems in the post-stroke period including: cognition, memory, attention span, pain, sensation loss, psychological issues, and problems with mobility and balance. Research has identified that exercise has both positive physical and psychosocial effects for post-stroke patients. Therefore, this scient...

Risk Factors, Clinical Features and Prognosis for Subtypes of Ischemic Stroke in a Chinese Population
SummaryIt is unanimously accepted that stroke is a highly heterogeneous disorder. Different subtypes of ischemic stroke may have different risk factors, clinical features, and prognoses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk factors, clinical characteristics, and prognoses of different subtypes of ischemic stroke defined by the Trial of ORG10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) criteria. We prospectively analyzed the data from 530 consecutive patients who were admitted to our hospital with acute ischemic stroke within 7 days of stroke onset during the study period. Standardized data assessment was used and the ca...

Evaluation of the Influence of Etiological Factors on the Economic Burden of Ischemic Stroke in Younger Patients in China Using the Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) Classification.
CONCLUSIONS In the younger patient population in China, etiological factors influenced the economic burden of ischemic stroke. PMID: 30666992 [PubMed - in process]

Incidence of Stroke and Mortality in Chinese Patients with Sleep-Breathing Disorders: A Clinical Population-Based (CPB) Study.
CONCLUSIONS Age, sex, and the other existing disease(s) of patients with sleep-breathing disorders may be associated with stroke event(s). Also, stroke event(s) and comorbidities may be associated with mortality in this Chinese population. PMID: 31884509 [PubMed - in process]

Impact of Tag Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in CCL11 Gene on Risk of Subtypes of Ischemic Stroke in Xinjiang Han Populations.
CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrates that the CCL11 gene could play an important role in the pathogenesis of lacunar stroke and LAA stroke in the Han population of China. PMID: 28873081 [PubMed - in process]

Dose-Response Relationship Between Thrombin-Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor (TAFI) and Stroke: A Chinese Case-Control Study.
CONCLUSIONS There was a definite correlation between TAFI levels and stroke in this Chinese population, and with the increase of TAFI levels, the relative risk of stroke or ischemic stroke first increased and then decreased. PMID: 28890533 [PubMed - in process]

The Association of Stage 1 Hypertension Defined by the 2017 ACC/AHA Guideline with Stroke and Its Subtypes among Elderly Chinese.
Conclusion: Among adults aged ≥60 years in rural China, stage 1 hypertension defined by 2017 American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association hypertension guideline was independently associated with the increased risk of all stroke and ischemic stroke, excluding hemorrhagic stroke. Associations between Aquaglyceroporin Gene Polymorphisms and Risk of Stroke among Patients with Hypertension.
Conclusions: This study suggests that SNPs rs2989924 and rs3758269 are associated with the risk of stroke among patients with hypertension, while there were no statistically significant associations between rs2542743, rs57139208, and rs16939881 and the risk of stroke being observed. Characteristics of Cerebral Stroke in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
This article focuses on epidemiology features, risk factors, and pathogenesis of stroke in the TAR in an effort to generate a better understanding of the characteristics of stroke in this region. The special plateau-related factors such as its high elevation, limited oxygen, the high incidence of hypertension, smoking, and the unique dietary habits of the region are correlated with the high incidence of stroke. In addition to these factors, the pathogenesis of stroke in this high-altitude area is also unique. However, there is no established explanation for the unique occurrence and high incidence of stroke in the TAR. Our...

Hypertension Among Hemorrhagic Stroke Patients in Northeast China: A Population-Based Study 2017-2019.
CONCLUSIONS The high prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension and high rates of blood pressure at stages 2 and 3 in patients with prior hemorrhagic stroke indicated a considerable stroke burden in northeast China. Therefore, effective and long-time management of hypertension in stroke survivors should be a priority. PMID: 33376232 [PubMed - in process]

Network pharmacology of Huatan Tongluo decoction and clinical effects of its combination with acupuncture in the treatment of stroke
CONCLUSION: The combination of Huatan Tongluo decoction and acupuncture can help patients with sequelae of stroke promote the regaining of neurological function, thus improving their movement and enhancing their abilities to perform daily living. Huatan Tongluo decoction can mediate the VEGF signaling pathway and other pathways to treat ischemic stroke.PMID:36505343 | PMC:PMC9730069
