Bu Yang Huan Wu Decoction prevents reperfusion injury following ischemic stroke in rats via inhibition of HIF-1 α, VEGF and promotion β-ENaC expression
ConclusionsBYHW protected against cerebral I/R injury in MCAO rats through inhibiting the activation of the HIF-1 α /VEGF pathway and stabilizing ion channel of β-ENaC in brain, indicating that BYHW shows potential for stroke treatment in acute stage.Graphical abstract

Investigation of Invigorating Qi and Activating Blood Circulation Prescriptions in Treating Qi Deficiency and Blood Stasis Syndrome of Ischemic Stroke Patients: Study Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
In this study, we intend to use similar prescriptions that invigorate Qi and activate blood circulation: Buyang Huanwu granules (BHG), Naoxintong capsules (NXTC), and Yangyin Tongnao granules (YTG). The goal is to evaluate their level of PSC inpatients with IS with QDBS syndrome and find relevant biomarkers to provide an objective basis for precise treatment of TCM and improve the clinical therapeutic effects. A multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled intervention trial will be conducted in IS patients with QDBS syndrome, followed by an add-on of Chinese patent medicine. A total of 160 subjects will...

Chinese Herbal Medicine Xingnaojing Injection for Acute Ischemic Stroke: An Overview of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
Conclusion: XNJ appears to be effective and safe for acute IS in improving the neurological deficits, but the evidence is not robust enough. However, whether administering XNJ immediately after or within 24 h of IS is best remains unknown due to the lack of data. Well-designed large-scale randomized controlled trials with measurable outcomes are required in future studies.

Jiedu Tongluo Granules Ameliorates Post-stroke Depression Rat Model via Regulating NMDAR/BDNF Signaling Pathway
Post-stroke depression (PSD) is one of the most common stroke complications, which seriously affects stroke’s therapeutic effect and brings great pain for patients. The pathological mechanism of PSD has not been revealed. Jiedu Tongluo granules (JDTLG) is an effective traditional Chinese medicine for PSD treatment which is widely used in clinical treatment. JDTLG has a significant therapeutic effect against PSD, but the mechanism is still unclear. The PSD rat model was established by carotid artery embolization combined with chronic sleep deprivation followed by treating with JDTLG. Neurobehavioral and neurofunctional ex...

Key Phytochemicals and Biological Functions of Chuanxiong Rhizoma Against Ischemic Stroke: A Network Pharmacology and Experimental Assessment
This study aimed to uncover the key phytochemicals and biological functions of CR against IS through a network pharmacology approach combining with IS pathophysiology analysis. We employed permanent unilateral common carotid artery ligation to construct a mouse model of global cerebral ischemia and found that cerebral ischemia injuries were improved after 7 days of gavage treatment of CR (1,300 mg/kg/day). CR exerts protective effects on neurons mainly by acting on targets related to synaptic structure, synaptic function, neuronal survival and neuronal growth. A total of 18 phytochemicals from CR based on UHPLC-MS/MS tha...

Economic Evaluation of Ticagrelor Plus Aspirin Versus Aspirin Alone for Acute Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack
Conclusions: The results indicated that early treatment with a 30-days ticagrelor plus aspirin for an acute mild-to-moderate IS or TIA is highly cost-effective in a Chinese setting.

Efficacy and Safety of Xingnaojing Injection for Emergency Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusion: XNJ appears to be effective and safe for emergency treatment of AIS. The first 72 h after the onset of stroke, in particular the first 6 hours, may be the optimum initiation time. However, further high-quality RCTs are warranted to determine an appropriate initiation time.Systematic Review Registration: [https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/display_record.php?RecordID=233211], identifier [CRD42021233211].

The role of < em > CYP2C19 < /em > genotyping to guide antiplatelet therapy following ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack
Expert Rev Clin Pharmacol. 2022 Aug 1. doi: 10.1080/17512433.2022.2108401. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet agent recommended for secondary prevention of ischemic stroke (IS) and transient ischemic attack (TIA). Conversion of clopidogrel to its active metabolite by hepatic cytochrome P450-2C19 (CYP2C19) is essential for the inhibition of the P2Y12 receptor and subsequent platelet aggregation to prevent thrombotic events. CYP2C19 is highly polymorphic, with over 30 loss of function (LoF) alleles. This review considers whether there is sufficient data to support genotype guided antip...

Platelet-activating factor receptor antagonists of natural origin for acute ischemic stroke: a systematic review of current evidence
Conclusions: This systematic review not only makes an important contribution to the existing body of current evidence but also lays a well-conducted basis for providing opinions and recommendation on the evaluation of PAFRA-based medicine, which could also highlight the need for well-designed clinical trials of PAFRA for AIS to increase the quality of available evidence. Further research is required, using standardized functional outcome measures for AIS, adequate blinding and suitable comparator groups reflecting current best practice.

Oridonin ameliorates caspase-9-mediated brain neuronal apoptosis in mouse with ischemic stroke by inhibiting RIPK3-mediated mitophagy
In this study we investigated whether Ori exerted a protective effect against reperfusion injury-induced neuronal loss and the underlying mechanisms. Mice were subjected to transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), and were injected with Ori (5, 10, 20 mg/kg, i.p.) at the beginning of reperfusion. We showed that Ori treatment rescued neuronal loss in a dose-dependent manner by specifically inhibiting caspase-9-mediated neuronal apoptosis and exerted neuroprotective effects against reperfusion injury. Furthermore, we found that Ori treatment reversed neuronal mitochondrial damage and loss after reperfusion injury....

The therapeutic role of Jingchuan tablet on ischaemic cerebral stroke via the HIF-1 α/EPO/VEGFA signalling pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated the mechanisms of JCT anti-ICS associated with the activation of the HIF-1α/EPO/VEGFA pathway, which provided a pharmacological basis for expanding the clinical application and some scientific ideas for further research into the material basis JCT anti-ICS.PMID:36269045 | DOI:10.1080/13880209.2022.2134430
