Atrial fibrillation as a contributing factor in the diagnostic algorithm for coronary subclavian steal syndrome and cardiac tamponade following coronary artery bypass graft surgery: a case study
We present a case of a 73-year-old man with a medical history of atrial fibrillation, peripheral artery disease, and CABG surgery four months before the current event, who came to the emergency department due to progressive dyspnea. The initial diagnostic management showed a large circulatory pericardial effusion, so the patient was admitted to the coronary care unit and underwent pericardial drainage. In the following days, due to a sudden high increase in cardiac troponin, the patient underwent an urgent coronary angiography, which revealed severe left SAS with functional CABG, indicating the occurrence of CSSS. Percutan...

Medical Image-Based Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis in Vascular Diseases
We describe the multiple steps and recent advances in a typical patient-specific simulation pipeline, including medical imaging, image processing, spatial discretization to generate computational mesh, setting up boundary conditions and solver parameters, visualization and extraction of hemodynamic factors, and statistical analysis. These steps have not been standardized and thus have unavoidable uncertainties that should be thoroughly evaluated. We also discuss the recent development of combining patient-specific models with machine-learning methods to obtain hemodynamic factors faster and cheaper than conventional method...

The predictive value of residual SYNTAX score and SYNTAX revascularization index for contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
CONCLUSIONS: rSS and SRI are associated with CIN in STEMI patients. Although rSS is superior in predicting CIN, both angiographic scorings have significant diagnostic power. rSS and SRI are independent predictors for the development of CIN.PMID:36066154 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202208_29517

Meta-Analysis of Prognostic Correlation of Thrombectomy for Cerebral Infarction Based on Intelligent Medical Treatment
Biomed Res Int. 2022 Sep 23;2022:4537195. doi: 10.1155/2022/4537195. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTA meta-analysis is used to investigate the correlation between the status of collateral circulation assessed by head CT angiography (CTA) and the outcome of thrombectomy for cerebral infarction. Meta-analysis is conducted. The experimental results show that the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score, incidence of cerebral hemorrhage, and mortality in the group with good collateral circulation are significantly lower than those in the group with bad collateral circulation, and th...

Reduction of radiation dose using real-time visual feedback dosimetry during angiographic interventions
J Appl Clin Med Phys. 2022 Dec 24:e13860. doi: 10.1002/acm2.13860. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis prospective study sought to evaluate potential savings of radiation dose to medical staff using real-time dosimetry coupled with visual radiation dose feedback during angiographic interventions. For this purpose, we analyzed a total of 214 angiographic examinations that consisted of chemoembolizations and several other types of therapeutic interventions. The Unfors RaySafe i2 dosimeter was worn by the interventionalist at chest height over the lead protection. A total of 110 interventions were performed with real-time radi...
