The Efficacy of a New Protocol of Oral Immunotherapy to Wheat for Desensitization and Induction of Tolerance
This study aimed to design and implement a new wheat OIT protocol, evaluate its efficacy in tolerance induction, and assess specific immunoglobulin-E (IgE) and regulatory T cell changes. From 2015 to 2017, 26 patients with confirmed IgE-mediated hypersensitivity to wheat were treated via oral immunotherapy (OIT). Patients with prior anaphylactic episodes underwent OIT using the rush method. Specific IgE concentrations and the number of regulatory T cells (CD4+ CD25+ FOXP3+ T cells) were measured using Allergy Screen immunoblot assay and flow cytometry, respectively. This study was registered in the Iranian Registry of Clin...

Assessment of Co-Sensitization between Pollen and Food Allergen Sources among Bengali Population, West Bengal, India
Conclusion: The present study established that co-sensitivity between pollen and food allergen sources were predominant in allergic patients of West Bengal. The co-sensitization patterns among unrelated allergen sources may be due to possible expression of biologic cross-reactivity to similar allergens.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

The role of food allergy as a provoking factor of migraine
CONCLUSION: We show for the first time the relationship between delayed-type food allergy and redistribution in the microbiome of the oropharynx of patients with migraine and once again confirm the role of delayed-type food allergy as a clinically significant factor influencing the course of migraine (its intensity and chronicity).PMID:37655411 | DOI:10.17116/jnevro202312308156

Wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis: a retrospective case review from a tertiary hospital
Conclusions With the emergence of wheat allergy in East Asian countries, WDEIA has become an important condition for physicians and Singapore is no exception. Under-recognition combined with life-threatening symptoms warrants better public awareness measures. In addition, further studies are necessary to identify possible unique genetic and environmental exposures that could explain the inter-regional differences of WDEIA.

Oral immunotherapy in children with IgE-mediated wheat allergy: outcome and molecular changes.
CONCLUSIONS: Our wheat OIT protocol was safe, efficient, and rapid. In our population, alpha-amylase was the major allergen. PMID: 25219106 [PubMed - in process]
