Prevalence of risk factors and estimation of 10-year risk for cardiovascular diseases among male adult population of Tamil Nadu India-an insight from the national family health survey-5
CONCLUSION: Widespread use of this score needs to be encouraged in clinical practices and patients with a higher risk of CVD events should be counselled for lifestyle modifications and compliance with treatment for decreasing the burden due to CVDs.PMID:37336261 | DOI:10.1016/j.ihj.2023.06.003

Anti-Obesity Actions of Two Separated Aqueous Extracts From Arbutus ( < em > Arbutus unedo < /em > ) and Hawthorn ( < em > Crataegus monogyna < /em > ) Fruits Against High-Fat Diet in Rats via Potent Antioxidant Target
Dose Response. 2023 May 30;21(2):15593258231179904. doi: 10.1177/15593258231179904. eCollection 2023 Apr-Jun.ABSTRACTArbutus unedo and Crataegus monogyna are widely distributed throughout the Mediterranean basin and commonly used in folk medicine against a wide range of diseases. Therefore, the present study has been designed to evaluate the anti-obesity potential of two aqueous extracts of the fruits of A. unedo (AUAE) and C. monogyna (CMAE). Male Wistar rats were supplied with a standard diet (SD), high-fat diet (HFD), HFD with the two separated extracts at the same dose (300 mg/kg, BW, p. o.), or HFD with atorvastatin-(...

Phytochemicals That Interfere With Drug Metabolism and Transport, Modifying Plasma Concentration in Humans and Animals
Dose Response. 2022 Sep 21;20(3):15593258221120485. doi: 10.1177/15593258221120485. eCollection 2022 Jul-Sep.ABSTRACTPhytochemicals (Pch) present in fruits, vegetables and other foods, are known to inhibit or induce drug metabolism and transport. An exhaustive search was performed in five databases covering from 2000 to 2021. Twenty-one compounds from plants were found to modulate CYP3A and/or P-gp activities and modified the pharmacokinetics and the therapeutic effect of 27 different drugs. Flavonols, flavanones, flavones, stilbenes, diferuloylmethanes, tannins, protoalkaloids, flavans, hyperforin and terpenes, reduce pla...

Hypercholesterolemia diagnosis, treatment patterns and target achievement in patients with acute coronary syndromes in Germany
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a contemporary picture of the treatment of hyperlipidemia after ACS in patients in Germany. Despite treatment with lipid-lowering therapy, many patients did not achieve recommended lipid targets by 12 months after an ACS event.PMID:36114838 | DOI:10.1007/s00392-022-02108-w

Effects of Xinjiang wild cherry plum ( < em > Prunus divaricata < /em > Ledeb) anthocyanin-rich extract on the plasma metabolome of atherosclerotic apoE-deficient mice fed a high-fat diet
Front Nutr. 2022 Jul 25;9:923699. doi: 10.3389/fnut.2022.923699. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTIt is well-known that many vegetables and fruits have abundant polyphenols, such as anthocyanins, which benefit many cardiovascular diseases due to their anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. To explore the protective effect of anthocyanin on atherosclerosis from a metabolic perspective, alterations in plasma metabolic profiling of apoE-deficient (apoE-/-) mice in response to treatment with anthocyanin extracts derived from Xinjiang wild cherry plum (Prunus divaricata Ledeb) peel was investigated through UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS. The mi...
