Phenotypes of persistent hen`s egg allergy in children and adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: Persistent hen`s egg allergy is characterized by multiple food allergies and age-related multimorbidities. Baked egg and heated egg yolk tolerance were more likely to be considered in a subgroup with a high expectation for finding a way to eliminate their allergy.PMID:36866980 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2021.5417

How An Elimination Diet May Improve Your Child’s Health
Photo Courtesy of Simon & Schuster Maya Shetreat-Klein, MD is an integrative pediatric neurologist. Her new book, The Dirt Cure is published by Atria Publishing Group, a sister company of CBS. She lectures internationally to medical professionals and laypeople on environmental health and toxins, and healing with food and nature. Many children in my practice improve tremendously from any number of conditions—asthma, eczema, constipation, headaches, ADHD, seizures—when we remove foods that bother their bodies. Unfortunately, traditional allergy tests don’t always tell the whole story of food reactivity. The best wa...

Development of an Assay Method to Search for Compounds Inhibiting Stress-Enhanced Allergy.
Abstract Stress exacerbates allergic disorders such as atopic dermatitis and asthma. It is also an important factor affecting blood flow (BF). Allergic reactions also affect blood flow. For example, we observed that mice sensitized with hen egg-white lysozyme (HEL) have decreased BF during the allergy induction phase. Based on this finding, we established a model for evaluating chronic restraint stress-enhanced allergies. Mice were sensitized with 12.5 µg/head of HEL on day 0, then restrained for 90 min daily on days 1-3, 5, and 6 in a modified 50 mL polystyrene conical centrifuge tube with multiple air hol...

Influence of Atopic Dermatitis on Cow's Milk Allergy in Children.
Conclusions: An early barrier deficiency appears to promote the development of allergic sensitization, but does not seem to influence the acquisition of tolerance. PMID: 31405131 [PubMed - in process]

Increased corn oil intake during an allergy sensitization period aggravates food allergy severity after oral allergen exposure
Biosci Biotechnol Biochem. 2021 Sep 25:zbab164. doi: 10.1093/bbb/zbab164. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEgg white (EW) allergy model mice underwent 15-day oral immunotherapy (OIT) using diets with different corn-oil content and 1% EW. After OIT, mortality following an oral food challenge in OIT groups were approximately 90%. However, in previous studies, mortality was 0%. This phenomenon is to be associated with increased corn-oil intake during allergy sensitization and allergen exposure for 2 weeks.PMID:34562086 | DOI:10.1093/bbb/zbab164

Atopy Patch Test in the Diagnosis of Food Allergens in Infants with Allergic Proctocolitis Compared with Elimination/Introduction C
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2021 Sep 28;20(5):520-524. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v20i5.7402.ABSTRACTAllergic proctocolitis is a cell-dependent food allergy that is present in both breast and formula-fed infants. The presence of blood with different amounts in the stool is the main manifestation of the disease. Different results have been published on the accuracy and specificity of the atopic patch test (APT). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the results of the APT and compare them with those obtained in the food elimination/introduction (E/I) challenge, as the gold standard of confirming the allergy. Twenty-eight pa...
