Distinct regulation of tonsillar immune response in virus infection
ConclusionsTonsillar cytokine expression is closely related to existing viral infections, age, and allergic illnesses and shows distinct clusters between antiviral and immune regulatory genes.

Minimizing fucosylation in insect cell-derived glycoproteins reduces binding to IgE antibodies from the sera of patients with allergy.
In this study, we evaluated the impact of fucose residues on the allergenic potential of an insect cell-expressed vaccine candidate. In order to block the GDP-L-fucose de novo synthesis pathway, we integrated the Pseudomonas aeruginosa GDP-6-deoxy-D-lyxo-4-hexulose reductase (RMD) gene into a baculovirus backbone. This virus was then used for the expression of soluble influenza A virus hemagglutinin (HA). Expression studies showed that the co-expression of RMD did not influence the overall level of recombinant protein secretion. We confirmed the result of our strategy by analyzing PNGase A-released N-glycans using MALDI-TO...

Anaphylactic reactions to vaccines : Chicken egg allergy and the influenza H1N1 vaccination.
CONCLUSION: Current guidelines for the treatment of anaphylactic reactions are to be observed. Immediate treatment of the first symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction-i.v. administration of adrenalin, antihistamines, cortisone, and in some cases betamimetics-can usually prevent anaphylactic shock. Alternatively, a graded vaccination ("split protocol") and overnight surveillance can be considered in this group of patients. PMID: 28540396 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of Breastfeeding Duration with Susceptibility to Allergy, Influenza, and Methylation Status of TLR1 Gene.
Conclusions: The findings demonstrate the significance of increased breastfeeding duration for improved health outcomes at the gene level. PMID: 31454983 [PubMed - in process]

Complications to acute bacterial rhinosinusitis in children - a prospective study; bacterial cultures, virus detection, allergy sensitization and immunoglobulins
CONCLUSIONS: There seem to be differences in the patterns of bacterial growth in nasopharyngeal, middle meatus and surgical cultures in children with complications to acute bacterial rhinosinusitis. Presence of certain viruses and sensitization to airborne allergies seem to play a role in complications to acute bacterial rhinosinusitis in children.PMID:37338824 | DOI:10.4193/Rhin22.168
