The effect of implementing undergraduate competency-based medical education on students' knowledge acquisition, clinical performance and perceived preparedness for practice: a comparative study
Conclusions: Our data do not support the assumption that competency-based education results in graduates who are better prepared for medical practice. More research is needed before we can draw generalizable conclusions on the potential of undergraduate competency-based medical education.

Medical education and moral segmentation in medical students
ConclusionsStudents show a decline in moral judgement competence during medical education. This probably reflects an increase in moral segmentation rather than an inhibition in moral development. The challenge is to develop a curriculum that will enable medical students to maintain, or better, increase their moral judgement competence.

Interviewing in situ: employing the guided walk as a dynamic form of qualitative inquiry
ConclusionsThe guided walk method is promising within medical education, particularly for researchers seeking to gain participants’ stories in the contexts to which they refer. This method may be appropriate for use in medical education research in areas such as the evaluation and assessment of a student's clinical decision‐making skills and competency development, as well as the consolidation of strategies to manage ethical and professional dilemmas.

The current landscape of television and movies in medical education
Conclusion As we move toward evidence-informed education, we need an evidence- based examination of this topic that will move it beyond a ‘show and tell’ discussion toward meaningful implementation and evaluation. Learning the law: practical proposals for UK medical education
Ongoing serious breaches in medical professionalism might be avoided if UK doctors rethink their approach to law. UK medical education has a role in creating a climate of change by re-examining how law is taught to medical students. Adopting a more insightful approach in the UK to the impact of The Human Rights Act and learning to manipulate legal concepts, such as conflict of interest, need to be taught to medical students now if UK doctors are to manage complex decision-making in the NHS of the future. The literature is reviewed from a unique personal perspective of a doctor and lawyer, and practical proposals for develo...

From PBL tutoring to PBL coaching in undergraduate medical education: an interpretative phenomenological analysis study.
CONCLUSIONS: It could be concluded that PBL coaching is a dynamic, facilitative process that makes a particular contribution to the learning process from psychological, emotional, and social perspectives, whilst it demonstrates significant overlaps with PBL tutoring in terms of supporting students' cognitive activities in PBL.
