Obesity and Overweight are Highly Prevalent in Pediatric Secondary Pseudotumor Cerebri Syndrome (P5.304)
CONCLUSIONS: Pediatric patients diagnosed with secondary PTCS were on average significantly overweight compared to their peers. Hence excess body weight may contribute to PTCS even when a potential secondary cause is identified. Study Supported by:5-K12-DK-94723-2(SEM)Disclosure: Dr. Paley has nothing to disclose. Dr. Sheldon has nothing to disclose. Dr. Burrows has nothing to disclose. Dr. Chilutti has nothing to disclose. Dr. Liu has received personal compensation for activities with Ipsen as a consultant. Hemodialysis for lithium poisoning.
CONCLUSIONS: Although the use of hemodialysis to enhance the elimination of lithium in patients with lithium poisoning appears logical, there is no evidence from randomized controlled trials to support nor refute the use of hemodialysis in the management of patients with lithium poisoning. S7. neosensitization to multiple drugs following drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms syndrome (dress)
DiscussionTo our knowledge, this is the first case report of neosensitization to multiple drugs after valproate-induced DRESS syndrome. A thorough search of Pubmed was performed to identify similar cases, which confirmed that no cases of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin or neosensitization to multiple drugs after a valproate-related DRESS episode have been reported. Furthermore, only two studies have reported possible neosensitization to amoxicillin following DRESS episodes induced by carbamazepine, and only one case reported neosensitization to amoxicillin following a DRESS episode induced by allopurinol.

The relationship between Lithium and cancer proliferation: A case-based review of the literature.
CONCLUSION: Despite the presence of contradictory data, a substantial body of evidence mainly from molecular studies point to Li's anti-carcinogenic effects. However, the underlying mechanistic pathways remain unclear. Mitochondrial dysfunction and redox modulations are potential areas for research on the relationship between Li and cancer proliferation. Interventions for chronic non-hypovolaemic hypotonic hyponatraemia.
CONCLUSIONS: In people with chronic hyponatraemia, vasopressin receptor antagonists modestly raise serum sodium concentration at the cost of a 3% increased risk of it being rapid. To date there is very low certainty evidence for patient-important outcomes; the effects on mortality and health-related quality of life are unclear and do not rule out appreciable benefit or harm; there does not appear to be an important effect on cognitive function, but hospital stay may be slightly shorter, although available data are limited. Treatment decisions must weigh the value of an increase in serum sodium concentration against its sho...

Effects of systemic medication on root resorption associated with orthodontic tooth movement: a systematic review of animal studies.
Conclusions: The pharmaceutical substances investigated were shown to exhibit variable effects on root resorption. Although the overall quality of evidence provides the clinician with a cautious perspective on the strength of the relevant recommendations, good practice would suggest that it is important to identify patients consuming medications and consider the possible implications. Development of pulse shape algorithms for discrimination between gamma and X-ray radiation pulses.
In this study, we proposed and tested several algorithms aiming to eliminate this influence. The algorithms are based on curve fitting (CF), artificial neural network (ANN), system identification, peak shape, amplitude search with curve fitting and pulse tracking methods. Gamma pulses and X-ray pulses are detected by NaI(TI) scintillator detector and Silicon lithium Si(Li) detector, respectively. The developed algorithms are tested using 32,000 total instantaneous detector events of acquired gamma pulses and 65,536 total instantaneous detector events of x-ray source. An algorithm using the least square curve fitting method...

The Psychopharmacology Algorithm Project at the Harvard South Shore Program: An Update on Unipolar Nonpsychotic Depression
Background The Psychopharmacology Algorithm Project at the Harvard South Shore Program presents evidence-based recommendations considering efficacy, tolerability, safety, and cost. Two previous algorithms for unipolar nonpsychotic depression were published in 1993 and 1998. New studies over the last 20 years suggest that another update is needed. Methods The references reviewed for the previous algorithms were reevaluated, and a new literature search was conducted to identify studies that would either support or alter the previous recommendations. Other guidelines and algorithms were consulted. We considered exception...

Effect of cement type on the clinical performance and complications of zirconia and lithium disilicate tooth-supported crowns: A systematic review. Report of the Committee on Research in Fixed Prosthodontics of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics
ConclusionsBased on the available evidence and within the limitations of this systematic review, zirconia and lithium disilicate tooth-supported crowns exhibited comparable survival rates and complication patterns after adhesive or conventional cementation.

Lithium Neurotoxicity Due to Second-Generation Antipsychotics Combined With Lithium: A Systematic Review.
Conclusion: LN, both reversible and irreversible, due to SGAs combined with lithium presents with certain causative factors and a clinical profile. Early detection and prompt management will help prevent LN. PMID: 31237432 [PubMed - in process]

Stabilization Beyond Mood: Stabilizing Patients With Bipolar Disorder in the Various Phases of Life
ConclusionsNo clear-cut indications could be drawn due to a number of limitations involving sample inconsistency and different methods of assessing mood stabilization. The evidence collected so far does not allow recommended treatments for Adolescents, pregnant or perinatal women, and aged patients. However, adults, not within these groups, better focused upon. For their manic/mixed phases, second generation antipsychotic drugs may be useful in the short-to-medium run, alone or combined with mood stabilizers (MSs). However, MSs, and especially lithium, continue to be pivotal in chronic treatment. Bipolar depression should ...

Psychotropic Drugs and Adverse Kidney Effects: A Systematic Review of the Past Decade of Research
ConclusionsDespite the heterogeneity of findings, owing to varying methodologies and research challenges, recent studies strongly suggest that lithium is associated with an increased risk of chronic kidney disease and nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, especially in older adults and long-term lithium users. Clinicians should balance the harms of lithium against its established benefits, and ensure adequate monitoring and management of comorbidities in all patients. Weaker evidence suggests that antiepileptics such as valproate and antipsychotics result in comparatively less harm to the kidney than lithium, but warrant monitor...

Clinical performance of lithium disilicate and zirconia CAD/CAM crowns using digital impressions: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: The outcomes of this systematic review indicate that Z and LDS crowns display a similar incidence of periodontal and endodontic complications when compared to metal-ceramic crowns, suggesting that these all-ceramic materials are viable alternatives. The incidence of chipping was higher in LDS crowns compared to other materials, while Z crowns were inferior in terms of aesthetics.PMID:36533368 | DOI:10.1177/20501684221132941
