Survey on the working, training, and research conditions of resident physicians in internistic and rheumatological continuing education-BEWUSST
CONCLUSION: Half of the trainee rheumatologists are satisfied with their professional activities, although mentoring of the assistants in training should be further improved. With respect to the desired combined clinical and outpatient activity, the existing options should be expanded or new professional fields of activity should be established, so that the specialty remains attractive for the upcoming generations.PMID:37566120 | DOI:10.1007/s00393-023-01395-6

The Logic Model - a rationale for an encompassing evaluation framework of the German Competence Centers for Postgraduate Medical Education in general practice
CONCLUSION: The model is also a prerequisite for comparative research questions of other university programs for postgraduate medical education and thus offers an opportunity for cooperative development efforts. This article therefore contributes to promoting quality in continuing medical training.PMID:34474993 | DOI:10.1016/j.zefq.2021.08.003

High user acceptance of a retina e-learning app in times of increasing digitalisation of medical training for ophthalmologists
Introduction: The aim was to identify changes in continuing education and training in ophthalmology in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and advancing digitalisation and to analyse the acceptance of e-learning tools among German ophthalmologists using a novel Retina Case App as an example. Methods: The participants’ training behaviour before and during the Covid-19 pandemic was surveyed. Furthermore, the acceptance and usability of the Retina Case App was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS). A possible influence of the app on everyday clinical practice was assessed. Results: A total of 145 ophthalmolog...

High User Acceptance of a Retina e-Learning App in Times of Increasing Digitalization of Medical Training for Ophthalmologists
Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant change in training behaviour in ophthalmology towards e-learning and online courses, which has not been accompanied by a general decline in training activity. The exemplarily investigated application showed a high user acceptance among ophthalmologists.Ophthalmologica

Shortage of physicians in rural areas and in the public health service : A critical analysis of the evidence on the role of medical education and training.
DISCUSSION: Foreign empirical studies identify almost equal two factors with regard to primary care in remote areas: the recruitment of students from rural areas combined with special educational programs with a rural primary care orientation both in under- and postgraduate medical education. These programs should include several and longer practical working periods in primary care units and be well coordinated between the medical school and the local teaching physicians. As for the state public health sector, comparable initiatives are still lacking. PMID: 29209761 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Full-scale simulation in German medical schools and anesthesia residency programs : Status quo.
CONCLUSIONS: Important first steps have been taken to implement full-scale simulation in Germany. In addition to programs for medical students courses for physicians and nurses are available today. To reach everyone clinically involved in German anesthesiology on a regular basis the current capacities need to be dramatically increased. The basis for that to happen will be new concepts for funding, possibly supported by external requirements such as the national model curriculum for residency in anesthesiology.
