ConclusionsAt our hospital, no significant gender differences were observed in the occurrence of NLE, and a predominance of skin, blood, liver, and heart involvement was observed. Patients with multiple central nervous system injuries and organ involvement are more likely to have growth retardation. Endocrine disorders are transient in NLE patients, and some showed feeding intolerance as the first manifestation.Key Points•A retrospective investigation of the clinical characteristics and prognosis of 39 NLE patients was performed, focusing on the clinical features of patients with neurological and endocrine system involve...

News at a glance: A win for obesity drugs, NIH unionization roadblocks, and Mexican fireflies under threat
CONSERVATION Researchers raise alarm over threat to Mexican fireflies Scientists from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) last week delivered a letter to the Mexican government requesting it regulate tourism centered on the threatened firefly species Photinus palaciosi . Endemic to Mexico’s Tlaxcala forests, P. palaciosi is one of the few species that glow in synchrony, offering an annual spectacle that attracts thousands of visitors during summer mating season. Comparison of clinical features and outcomes of proliferative, fibrotic, and mixed subtypes of IgG4-related disease: A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed the differences in demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, organ involvement, laboratory tests, treatment agents, and outcomes across proliferative, fibrotic, and mixed subtypes in the retrospective cohort study. Given significant differences in relapse-free survival among the three subtypes, treatment regimens, and follow-up frequency should be considered separately according to different subtypes.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials. gov, NCT01670695.PMID:37538048 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002755

Association of Interleukin-2 Gene Polymorphism with Henoch-sch önlein Purpura Nephritis
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2023 Jun 16;22(3):319-326. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v22i3.13060.ABSTRACTHenoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) is a common vasculitis that mostly affects children, and previous studies have indicated that genetic factors may influence disease susceptibility. The aim of this study was to evaluate a possible association of three interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene polymorphisms (rs3136534, rs2069776, and rs2069762) with HSPN in the Chinese population. A total of 81 patients with HSPN and 200 healthy children were enrolled. The distribution of genotypes, allelic frequencies, and haplotype frequencies among...

We aim to obtain a better understanding of the clinical status and disease burden of patients with asthma in China. A retrospective study was carried out based on the computerized medical records in the Jinan Health Medical Big Data Platform between 2011 and 2019 (available data from 38 hospitals). The asthma severity of each patient was assessed retrospectively and categorized as mild, moderate, or severe according to Global Initi...
