In conclusion, the longevity-associated genotype of FLT1 may confer increased lifespan by protecting against mortality risk posed by hypertension. We suggest that FLT1 expression in individuals with longevity genotype boosts vascular endothelial resilience mechanisms to counteract hypertension-related stress in vital organs and tissues. Challenges in the Vaccination of the Elderly and Strategies for Improvement
This article reviews published papers on several vaccination strategies that were developed for the elderly to solve these problems: more immunogenic vaccine formulations using larger doses of antigen, stronger vaccine adjuvants, recombinant subunit or protein conjugated vaccines, newly developed mRNA vaccines, giving booster shots, and exploring alternative routes of administration. Included also are several publications on senolytic medications under investigation to boost the immune system and vaccine response in the elderly. With all those in regard, the currently recommended vaccines for the elderly are presented.PMID...

The impact of COVID-19 on residents of long-term care facilities with learning disabilities and/or autism
CONCLUSIONS: Care home residents with learning disabilities and/or autism have a greater risk of death from COVID-19. Optimising guidance to meet their needs is of great importance.PMID:37123814 | PMC:PMC10133727 | DOI:10.1111/irv.13139

Post-vaccination headache reporting: Trends according to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System
CONCLUSION: In a national surveillance system, headache was a commonly reported post-vaccination adverse event; a small subset of reports was considered serious. The development of standardized vaccine-related case definitions could be useful for better evaluating headache as an adverse event during vaccine development, and may reduce vaccine hesitancy especially in headache-prone individuals.PMID:36651626 | DOI:10.1111/head.14458

Conclusion Use of the Khavinson peptides and melatonin in combination in this way, at this dose, negatively impacts the thymus, producing a reduction in active tissue and increase in atrophy to fatty tissue. The degree to which this atrophy occurred is greater than one would expect to take place over nine months of aging at this stage of life. Why did this outcome occur, given the animal studies showing thymic regrowth, and the studies showing reduced later life mortality following use of thymogen? We can only speculate. Firstly, the dose makes the poison, and the dosing here may have been too high, too frequ...

Shoulder injury related to vaccine administration (SIRVA) after COVID-19 vaccination
CONCLUSION: SIRVA should be regarded as an under-reported, significant cause of post-vaccination morbidity. In the setting of COVID-19 mass vaccination, clinicians must be aware of signs and symptoms of SIRVA as well as appropriate diagnostic modalities and treatment options. Additionally, standardization and proper education regarding injection technique and appropriate needle length is imperative to reducing harm.PMID:35817645 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2022.06.002

General vaccination willingness and current vaccination status in relation to clinical and psychological variables in patients with multiple sclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: No specific personality trait could be defined on its own in relation to general vaccination willingness or complete vaccination status. Younger patients should be made more aware of influenza vaccination. Reasons for rather low vaccination rates need to be further investigated.PMID:35473660 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2022.04.012
