Unmet Need for Sexual Rehabilitation after Acquired Brain Injury (ABI): A Cross-Sectional Study Concerning Sexual Activity, Sexual Relationships, and Sexual Rehabilitation after ABI
This study aims to explore experiences after non-stroke ABI concerning individual and relational aspects of sexuality, received information about sexuality at rehabilitation, and gender differences. A postal nationwide survey was conducted in Sweden, 2018 ā€“2019. The sample included individuals who had participated in brain injury rehabilitation 2014ā€“2016, response rate 40% (250/624). Among all participants 78% had resumed sexual activity, and there was a significant difference between males (84%, 118/140) and females (69%, 76/110,pā€‰=ā€‰0.004). Health literacy is associated with less depression symptoms, higher perceived recovery, higher perceived participation, and walking ability one year after stroke - a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: The association between health literacy and mental, physical, and social functioning 12-months post-discharge suggests that health literacy is an important factor to consider in post-stroke rehabilitation. Longitudinal studies of health literacy in people with stroke are warranted to explore the underlying reasons for these associations.PMID:36803670 | DOI:10.1080/10749357.2023.2178133

Physical inactivity before stroke is associated with dependency in basic activities of daily living 3 months after stroke

Person-centred care transitions for people with stroke: study protocol for a feasibility evaluation of codesigned care transition support
This study protocol describes the evaluation of a feasibility study using a non-randomised controlled design. The codesigned care transition support includes patient information using videos, leaflets and teach back; what-matters-to me dialogue; a coordinated rehabilitation plan; bridged e-meeting; and a message system for cross-organisational collaboration. Patients with stroke, first time or recurrent, who are to be discharged home from hospital and referred to a rehabilitation team in primary healthcare for continued rehabilitation in the home will be included. One week after stroke, data will be collected on the primar...

Very Early Cognitive Screening and Self-Reported Feeling of Fatigue Three Months After Stroke
Stroke is a major cause of disability and the second leading cause of death worldwide. Post-stroke fatigue has been reported as one of the most limiting symptoms after a stroke. Early identification of risk factors for developing post-stroke fatigue is important for providing timely rehabilitation. A correlation has been found between fatigue and cognitive impairment after stroke, but 2 months after stroke at the earliest. In the present study, we examined whether cognitive function screening using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) very early after stroke could explain fatigue 3 months after stroke. A total of 311 s...
