Patient-Reported Outcome Measures for Hearing Aid Benefit and Satisfaction: Content Validity and Readability
CONCLUSIONS: The categories covered by hearing aid PROMs vary considerably, with no single instrument comprehensively covering all the key ICF components. Future development of hearing aid outcome measures should consider a mixed methodology approach for improved content validity and ensure an appropriate reading level.PMID:37708535 | DOI:10.1044/2023_JSLHR-22-00535

Sentence Length Effects on Intelligibility in Two Groups of Older Children With Neurodevelopmental Disorders
CONCLUSIONS: The primary findings of this study include the following: (a) Unlike in typically developing children, sentence length continues to influence intelligibility well into adolescence for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, and (b) sentence length may influence intelligibility differently in children with CP than in children with DS; however, other factors besides the type of neurodevelopmental disorder (e.g., severity of speech motor involvement and/or cognitive-linguistic impairment) could play a role in the relationship between sentence length and intelligibility and must be investigated in future studi...

The Effects of Syntactic, Semantic, and Pragmatic Prominence on Pronoun Interpretation in Adults With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
CONCLUSIONS: Pronouns are an integral part of everyday conversation, and when the conversational partners do not share common strategies to link ambiguous pronouns with their antecedents, misunderstandings will occur. Results show that adults with IDD only weakly share pronoun interpretation strategies with adults with TD, suggesting that pronouns may be an important focus for intervention for this population.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.23875809.PMID:37562140 | DOI:10.1044/2023_JSLHR-22-00557

Availability of Physical Rehabilitation Facilities for People with Disabilities in Iran: A Comparative Study on Universal Health Coverage
CONCLUSION: According to the WHO report and the rehabilitation expert panel, it was concluded that the number of rehabilitation facilities including rehabilitation centers and workforce was limited in Iran and that the available centers were also poorly distributed in the provinces of the country. This made it difficult for people to have fair access to rehabilitation services. It appears that health policymakers should pay special attention to further developing rehabilitation facilities.PMID:37542402 | DOI:10.34172/aim.2022.109
