MAGT1 Deficiency Dysregulates Platelet Cation Homeostasis and Accelerates Arterial Thrombosis and Ischemic Stroke in Mice
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that MAGT1 and TRPC6 are functionally linked. Therefore, deficiency or impaired functionality of MAGT1 could be a potential risk factor for arterial thrombosis and stroke.PMID:37381987 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318115

T-Helper 2 Immunity Is Associated With Reduced Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Our observations provide the first clinical evidence for a protective role of Th2 immunity in CVD. They also suggest this protection is more prominent in women than in men. In spite of convincing evidence from experimental studies, we found no support for a role of Th1 immunity in CVD. PMID: 23307873 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Coronary Heart Disease, Peripheral Arterial Disease, and Stroke in Familial Hypercholesterolaemia: Insights From the SAFEHEART Registry (Spanish Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Cohort Study).
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of ASCVD is higher, and the involvement of the arterial territories is different in FH patients when compared with their unaffected relatives. Age, male sex, increased body mass index, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, smoking habit, and lipoprotein(a) >50 mg/dL were independently associated to ASCVD. Scientists Discover a Bone-Deep Risk for Heart Disease
Few doctors, and even fewer patients, have heard of C.H.I.P. But it is emerging as a major cause of heart attacks and stroke, as deadly as high blood pressure or cholesterol.

Association Between Systemic Inflammation, Carotid Arteriosclerosis, and Autonomic Dysfunction
In conclusion, systemic inflammation is associated with carotid rather than with generalized arteriosclerotic disease. The association between systemic inflammation and carotid arteriosclerosis is mediated by a reduction in vagal tone which indicates a major role of carotid arteriosclerosis-mediated autonomic dysfunction in the pathogenesis of systemic inflammation in arteriosclerotic disease.

Serum cystatin C is associated with carotid atherosclerosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsHigher cystatin C levels were strongly correlated with symptomatic CCA stenosis and the rate of unstable plaques. Analysis of cystatin C levels may be useful for the identification of CCA stenosis and extracranial ICA in patients with AIS.

Venous Thromboembolism Research Priorities: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
rsing; Council on Clinical Cardiology; Council on Epidemiology and Prevention; and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Abstract Venous thromboembolism is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. The impact of the US Surgeon General's The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism in 2008 has been lower than expected given the public health impact of this disease. This scientific statement highlights future research priorities in venous thromboembolism, developed by experts and a crowdsourcing survey across 16 scientific organizations. At the fundame...
