Conclusions: Up to date, no data about PCIS and IVT are available from RTCs. Based on limited results from retrospective clinical studies and case series, IVT is safer for use in PCIS than in ACIS. Patients with brainstem ischemia, vertebral artery occlusion, and absence of basilar or posterior cerebral artery occlusion could be considered for treatment with IVT even in borderline cases. Time to IVT in PCIS seems to be a less crucial factor than in ACIS. IVT for PCIS may be beneficial even after 4.5 h from symptom onset. Recurrent cerebellar infarction associated with hereditary heterozygous protein C deficiency in a 35-year-old woman: A case report and genetic study on the pedigree.
In conclusion, the clinical manifestations of hereditary PROC deficiency may vary between individuals. The heterozygous mutation locus c.565C>T on the PROC gene is associated with thrombophilia. Artery of Percheron Occlusion in China: A Case Report and Chinese Literature Review
Conclusion: Our report suggests that unusual mood disorder and language disorder of aged patients might indicate the AOP occlusion, and cerebral imaging of magnetic resonance imaging (better with magnetic resonance angiography) should be performed to establish the diagnosis of AOP occlusion. The fast and accurate diagnosis of stroke because of AOP occlusion could best benefit the patients.
