Stent retriever angioplasty for acute atherosclerotic occlusion of internal carotid artery: A case report
CONCLUSION: The prolonged deployment and partial resheath method using a stent retriever may be safe and effective in the treatment of intracranial, atherosclerosis-related, and emergent large-vessel occlusion of the ICA.PMID:36324978 | PMC:PMC9610213 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_729_2022

Case report: Combined acute revascularization in early bilateral carotid stent occlusion
ConclusionEarly occlusion of the carotid stent is a significant complication of endovascular treatment of stenotic arteries. ECIC bypass revascularization of the middle cerebral artery can be a highly effective therapeutic procedure.

Effect of angioplasty and stent placement on sensorineural hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus in a patient with severe internal carotid artery stenosis
Pulsatile tinnitus occurs due to turbulent blood flow through a stenotic vessel including the internal carotid artery. The presence of sensorineural hearing loss suggests involvement of the posterior circulation vasculature.

O17 Profile of intracranial artery calcifications and effect on endovascular stroke treatment
ConclusionsIntracranial arterial calcifications within the symptomatic vessel are associated with worse angiographic and functional outcomes. Identification of symptomatic-IAC on baseline imaging may predict need of intracranial stenting and determine their optimal endovascular treatment strategy.ReferencesMaurer CJ, et al. Isolated hand weakness due to brain lesion
Hand Surg Rehabil. 2022 Aug 12:S2468-1229(22)00172-4. doi: 10.1016/j.hansur.2022.08.003. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWhen hand weakness is linked to a brain lesion, there is risk of misdiagnosis. A case of hand weakness related to stroke is presented. The electromyography report indicated a segmental lesion of the median nerve at the wrist. Thus, the patient was initially diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, and was referred to the orthopedic department for release surgery. Because the symptom was immediate and did not include hand numbness, the orthopedic surgeon ruled out the previous diagnosis and ordered a head CT ...

Patch angioplasty versus primary closure for carotid endarterectomy
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with primary closure, carotid patch angioplasty may reduce the risk of perioperative arterial occlusion and long-term restenosis of the operated artery. It would appear to reduce the risk of ipsilateral stroke during the perioperative and long-term period and reduce the risk of any stroke in the long-term when compared with primary closure. However, the evidence is uncertain due to the limited quality of included trials.PMID:35920689 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD000160.pub4
