Association of risk of malnutrition with adverse outcomes and early support on discharge in acute stroke patients without prestroke disability: A multicenter, registry-based cohort study
CONCLUSION: Patients at risk of malnutrition more commonly have multiple adverse outcomes after acute stroke and greater need for early support on discharge.PMID:34664741 | DOI:10.1002/ncp.10790

Effects of Nutrition Therapy in Older Stroke Patients Undergoing Rehabilitation: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionNutrition therapy had no statistically significant effect on ADL. However, it reduced the incidence of infections. More high-quality trials are warranted to clarify the effects of nutrition therapy in older stroke patients undergoing rehabilitation.

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy versus nasogastric feeding in older individuals with non-stroke dysphagia: A systematic review
Conclusion Firm conclusions could not be derived on whether PEG feeding is beneficial over NG feeding in older persons with non-stroke dysphagia, as previously published literature were unclear or had a high risk of bias. A well-designed and adequately powered RCT, which includes carer strain and quality of life as outcome measures is therefore urgently needed.

Controlling nutritional status score for predicting 3-mo functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke
Malnutrition has been reported to be an independent risk factor for morbidity and mortality in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) [1 –3]. The prevalence of malnutrition after AIS has been reported to range from 8% to 34% [3]. In addition, malnourished patients, at admission, had a higher frequency of pneumonia, other infections, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bedsores than nourished patients [1,3]. Nutritional management is the refore a non-pharmacologic approach toward improving patient outcomes.
