Association of interleukin 6 and uric acid levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Bioinformation. 2022 Dec 31;18(12):1136-1140. doi: 10.6026/973206300181136. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTType 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) coupled with hypertension (HTN) are leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Association of Interleukin 6 and uric acid levels can be used for early detection of CAD in patients with T2DM. This cross sectional study included 120 study participants, were sub grouped into three Group 1: controls (n=30), Group 2: CAD, HTN without T2DM (n=30) and Group 3: CAD, HTN with T2DM (n=30). Basic biochemical, clinical and experimental parameters were analysed a...

Heart rate variability and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A longitudinal study
CONCLUSION: This study showed that patients with RA have autonomic imbalance both at an early stage of the disease and after five years, despite anti-rheumatic medication, but no correlation between HRV and inflammation markers were observed. Reduced HRV was also significantly negatively correlated with increased SBP. Hypertension is a common finding in patients with RA. Thus, significant decline of HRV could be a useful early marker for development of hypertension in patients with RA.PMID:37703773 | DOI:10.1016/j.autneu.2023.103119

Upregulation of the key biomarker kinesin family member 20A (KIF20A) is associated with the pulmonary artery hypertension
CONCLUSION: The level of KIF20A elevates during the progression of PAH, which suggestes it could be a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target for the PAH.PMID:37703933 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygeno.2023.110705

Gene-environment interactions that influence CVD, lipid traits, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension appear to be able to influence gene therapy
Mol Aspects Med. 2023 Sep 11;94:101213. doi: 10.1016/j.mam.2023.101213. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMost mind boggling diseases are accepted to be impacted by both genetic and environmental elements. As of late, there has been a flood in the improvement of different methodologies, concentrate on plans, and measurable and logical techniques to examine gene-environment cooperations (G × Es) in enormous scope studies including human populaces. The many-sided exchange between genetic elements and environmental openings has long charmed the consideration of clinicians and researchers looking to grasp the complicated starting...

Rethinking the distribution of sleep services: discrepancy of obstructive sleep apnoea in rural compared with metropolitan men in Australia - a large national survey
CONCLUSION: This study highlights the need to ensure adequate services in rural areas, given the higher proportion of men diagnosed with, or at risk of, OSA in rural areas. OSA is also associated with an increase risk of comorbidities such as heart disease, hypertension and diabetes, which are diseases also seen more prevalently in rural men. Rethinking the distribution of healthcare services will go some way to addressing this problem.PMID:37700451 | DOI:10.22605/RRH7704

Model-Informed Dosing Regimen of Ticagrelor in Chinese Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome
Clin Pharmacol Ther. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1002/cpt.3048. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe exposure to ticagrelor is higher in the East Asian population compared to the Caucasian population, thus, East Asians have an increased risk of bleeding. We developed a population pharmacokinetic model of ticagrelor based on a randomized 3 × 3 crossover study in healthy subjects. The area under concentration-time curve (AUC) of Chinese patients with acute coronary syndrome was simulated based on this model. Following this, eight machine learning methods were used to construct bleeding risk models. Variables included in the final ble...

Association of Obesity Based on Different Metabolic Status with Risk of Gout Occurrence in Patients: A National Study
CONCLUSION: When metabolic abnormalities were present, obesity induced a higher risk of gout. Different components of metabolic abnormalities had different effects on the risk of gout occurrence, and the number of metabolic abnormalities was closely related to the risk of gout occurrence. Follow-up and intervention methods targeting obesity and metabolic abnormalities should be considered for patients with gout.PMID:37702179 | DOI:10.2174/1871530323666230911140635
