Genome-Wide Association Study of Clinical Outcome After Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage: Protocol
AbstractAneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) results in persistent clinical deficits which prevent survivors from returning to normal daily functioning. Only a small fraction of the variation in clinical outcome following aSAH is explained by known clinical, demographic and imaging variables; meaning additional unknown factors must play a key role in clinical outcome. There is a growing body of evidence that genetic variation is important in determining outcome following aSAH. Understanding genetic determinants of outcome will help to improve prognostic modelling, stratify patients in clinical trials and target novel...

Ultrasound-Induced Release of Nimodipine from Drug-Loaded Block Copolymer Micelles: In Vivo Analysis
In this study, we aimed to assess the concept of controlled drug release from nimodipine-loaded copolymers by ultrasound application in the chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. Nimodipine-loaded copolymers were produced with the direct dissolution method. Vasospasm of the CAM vessels was induced by means of ultrasound (Physiomed, continuous wave, 3  MHz, 1.0 W/cm2). The ultrasound-mediated nimodipine release (Physiomed, continuous wave, 1  MHz, 1.7 W/cm2) and its effect on the CAM vessels were evaluated. Measurements of vessel diameter before and after ultrasound-induced nimodipine release were performed using...

Association between Apolipoprotein E Polymorphism and Clinical Outcome after Ischemic Stroke, Intracerebral Hemorrhage, and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Conclusions: In conclusion, the present study demonstratedAPOEε4 carriers show worse functional outcomes after ICH, but not after IS or SAH. More large-scale studies were critical to explore the association betweenAPOE polymorphism and clinical outcome after IS, ICH, and SAH.Cerebrovasc Dis

Safety and Effectiveness of the New Generation APERIO ® Hybrid Stent-retriever Device in Large Vessel Occlusion Stroke
ConclusionIn the specific example of the APERIO® stent-retriever device, we observed that further technological developments of the new generation device were not associated with disadvantages with respect to typical observational indicators of safety or effectiveness.

Posterior Communicating Artery Hypoplasia: A Risk Factor for Vertebral Artery Dissection Causing Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
Subarachnoid hemorrhage due to vertebral artery dissection is often fatal; however, its anatomical predictors remain unclear. We conducted a retrospective hospital-based case-control study to evaluate whether variations in the posterior communicating artery are associated with the risk of vertebral artery dissection with subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Trends in Incidence and Mortality of Stroke in China From 1990 to 2019
Conclusion: Although the incidence and mortality rates of stroke in China were decreased from 1990 to 2019, the number of incident cases and deaths nearly doubled. A sharp increase in the incidence rate of ischemic stroke was observed. A higher incidence rate of ischemic stroke in the women was also observed.

Long-Term Cognitive Outcome following Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) is a devastating form of stroke associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Survivors of aSAH frequently suffer from cognitive impairment,1,2 however the prevalence, characteristics and impact of the cognitive dysfunction needs further study.

Epidemiology, investigation, management, and outcome  of headache in emergency departments (HEAD study)-A multinational observational study
CONCLUSION: Diagnosis and management of headache in the ED is challenging. A small group of patients have a serious secondary cause for their symptoms. There is wide variation in the use of neuroimaging and treatments. Further work is needed to understand the variation in practice and to better inform international guidelines regarding emergent neuroimaging and treatment.PMID:34726783 | DOI:10.1111/head.14230
