Swallowing Dysfunction after Acute Stroke: The Incidence, Predictors and Outcome
CONCLUSION: Swallowing dysfunction should be checked in all cases of strokes, including unilateral hemispheric strokes and in fully conscious patients. Swallowing improves with time, but the patient may require feeding assistance in an acute setting. Risk of stroke following antivenom use after venomous snakebite: correspondence
We read with great interest the epidemiological study by Hunget al.1 on the risk of stroke with antivenom use after venomous snakebite in Taiwan. According to the national medical claims data, the authors provide us with useful information and disclose that venomous snakebite is associated with an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke after the use of antivenom after using the matching propensity score in relevant measurable covariates. Prognostic value of inflammation biomarkers for 30-day mortality in critically ill patients with stroke
ConclusionNLR, NAR, and RA were potential prognostic biomarkers for predicting 30-day mortality of hemorrhagic stroke patients, which might provide clinicians an easy and cheap way to quickly identify patients with high risk of mortality.
