Stroke Severity Is a Crucial Predictor of Outcome: An International Prospective Validation Study Stroke
Conclusions In this prospective pilot study, the baseline NIHSS score was essential for prediction of acute ischemic stroke outcomes, followed by age; whereas traditional comorbidity index contributed little to the overall model. Future studies of stroke outcomes between different care systems will benefit from including a baseline NIHSS score.

Predicting Future Brain Tissue Loss From White Matter Connectivity Disruption in Ischemic Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— ChaCo scores varied, but the most affected regions included those with sensorimotor, perception, learning, and memory functions. Correlations between baseline ChaCo and subsequent tissue loss suggest that the Network Modification Tool could be used to identify regions most susceptible to remote degeneration from acute infarcts.

Trends in mortality following mechanical thrombectomy for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke in the USA
Conclusions Utilization of MT represents a small percentage of stroke cases, although the trend is increasing. Mortality following MT has been showing a steady decline over the past 5 years. This may be a result of a learning curve, improved patient selection, and/or device improvements. Randomized trials remain essential to evaluate the potential benefit of endovascular devices and identify the most appropriate patients.

Stroke is the second most common cause of death worldwide and the leading cause of chronic functional limitations.1 Without appropriate and timely care between the stroke symptom appearance and the treatment in acute stroke incidents, the ischemic brain ages 3.6 years for every hour of blood deprivation.2 Yet patients repeatedly arrive late to the hospital.3,4 The lack of public awareness about stroke symptoms has been reported in the literature as one of the main factors, causing this belated arrival to the hospital and hence the belated medical treatment.
