Physician Preferences when Selecting Candidates for Lower-Quality Kidney Offers
CONCLUSIONS: Physicians appear to consider the recipient characteristics that inform expected post-transplant survival score when deciding whether to accept a marginal kidney for a given recipient.PMID:37729938 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000302

Fight Aging! Newsletter, September 11th 2023
This article reviews the current regulatory role of miR-7 in inflammation and related diseases, including viral infection, autoimmune hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and encephalitis. It expounds on the molecular mechanism by which miR-7 regulates the occurrence of inflammatory diseases. Finally, the existing problems and future development directions of miR-7-based intervention on inflammation and related diseases are discussed to provide new references and help strengthen the understanding of the pathogenesis of inflammation and related diseases, as well as the development of new strategies for clinical interventi...

Interventions for fatigue in people with kidney failure requiring dialysis
CONCLUSIONS: Exercise, aromatherapy, massage and acupressure may improve fatigue compared to placebo, standard care or no intervention. Pharmacological and other non-pharmacological interventions had uncertain effects on fatigue or fatigue-related outcomes in people receiving dialysis. Future adequately powered, high-quality studies are likely to change the estimated effects of interventions for fatigue and fatigue-related outcomes in people receiving dialysis.PMID:37651553 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD013074.pub2

Self-organized insulin-producing β-cells differentiated from human omentum-derived stem cells and their in vivo therapeutic potential
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that the FGF2-immobilized matrix can support initial cell adhesion, maturation, and glucose-stimulated insulin secretion within the host microenvironment. Such a cell culture platform can offer novel strategies to obtain functional pancreatic β-cells from patient-specific cell sources, ultimately enabling better treatment for diabetes mellitus.PMID:37644502 | DOI:10.1186/s40824-023-00419-1

REIN: a tool for the benefit of renal transplantation
Nephrol Ther. 2023 Aug 28;18(S2):40-45. doi: 10.1016/S1769-7255(22)00566-1.ABSTRACTOn the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of access to renal transplantation for ESKD patients, the following key messages were retained. The registry of the REIN includes data about kidney transplant and dialysis. It thus allows evaluating the access to kidney transplant in France based on the needs of the population with stage 5 CKD treated by renal replacement therapy. The da...
