Isotemporal Substitution of Sedentary Behavior with Moderate- to Vigorous- Physical Activity Is Associated with Lower Risk of Disability: A Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Replacing SB with MVPA was associated with a lower risk of disability. These findings are helpful for establishing disability prevention strategies.IMPACT: These results suggest that feasible changes in daily behavior, such as replacing 10 minutes of SB with MVPA daily, might have a protective effect on disability incidence. Clarifying these associations is useful for developing disability prevention strategies and may help reduce the incidence of disability in community-dwelling older adults.PMID:35079837 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzac002

Prevalence and associated relating factors in patients with hereditary retinal dystrophy: a nationwide population-based study in Taiwan
CONCLUSIONS: 74% of the diagnosed HRD are retinitis pigmentosa. Population-based data suggested an increased incidence of cataract in younger patients, whereas older HRD patients are more susceptible to develop CME. Further work is needed to elucidate the mechanism between these ophthalmological disorders and HRD.PMID:35396285 | DOI:10.1136/bmjopen-2021-054111

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 5118: Association of Postpartum Depression with Maternal Suicide: A Nationwide Population-Based Study
Conclusion: PPD was associated with a significantly higher rate of suicide and a shorter time to suicide after childbirth. Younger age, winter, and subclinical depression and anxiety positively predicted suicide in the study cohort. To prevent maternal suicide, clinicians should be observant of subclinical depression and anxiety symptoms among patients.

This study aimed to estimate and compare the prevalence of chronic diseases among the elderly, according to the possession of a health plan in 2013 and 2019. This is a population-based cross-sectional study with data from elderly people (age ≥ 60 years) from the Brazilian National Health Survey (2013: n = 11,177; 2019: n = 22,728). The prevalence of self-reported chronic diseases and adjusted prevalence ratios were estimated, according to health plan ownership (medical and/or dental) and by year. In the period, increased prevalence was observed for hypertension (PR = 1.11; 95%CI: 1.06-1.16), diabetes (PR = 1.12; 95%CI: 1...
