Genetic Study of White Matter Integrity in UK Biobank (N=8448) and the Overlap With Stroke, Depression, and Dementia Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Genetic variants within the VCAN gene may play a role in the mechanisms underlying microstructural integrity of the white matter in the brain measured as FA and MD. Mechanisms underlying white matter alterations are shared with cerebrovascular disease, and inherited differences in white matter microstructure impact on Alzheimer disease and major depressive disorder.

Brief group-based acceptance and commitment therapy for stroke survivors.
CONCLUSIONS: The results correspond with previous studies of group-based ACT with other long-term conditions. The findings from this current study suggest group-based ACT may have promising utility and could offer a suitable low-intensity psychological intervention for stroke survivors. However, further large-scale research is required.

An attempt to explain the bidirectional association between ischaemic heart disease, stroke and depression: a cohort and meta-analytic approach.

Incidence of ischaemic heart disease and stroke among people with psychiatric disorders: retrospective cohort study.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite declines in absolute rates of IHD and stroke, relative risks remain high in those with versus without psychiatric disorders. Cardiovascular disease monitoring and prevention approaches may need to be tailored by psychiatric disorder and cardiovascular outcome, and be targeted, for example, by age and deprivation level.
