Effects of body weight and posture on pulmonary functions in asthmatic children
Conclusion: There was no effect of weight on standing spirometric data. Weight showed significant negative correlation with asthma control level. We concluded that in overweight/obese asthmatic childr en, spirometric position might affect the results. Keywords: Body weight; posture; asthmatic children.

A Bidirectional Label Propagation Based Computational Model for Potential Microbe-Disease Association Prediction
Discussion There are numerous microbial communities inhabited in the human body, which is critical to human health. The relationship between human microbiome and diseases received much attention from both medical and bioinformatics community recently. However, traditional methods to detect their association is costly and labor-intensive. Thus, we proposed here a new computational model called NBLPIHMDA to infer potential microbe-disease associations. NBLPIHMDA first combined known microbe-disease associations in HMDAD and the Gaussian interaction profile kernel similarity to construct disease similarity network and microb...

Association of neck circumference and pulmonary function in children.
CONCLUSION: We identified NC as a novel anthropometric index that is strongly correlated with respiratory functions in children. Therefore, close monitoring of respiratory symptoms, particularly in children with obesity and a large NC, could help with early and prompt determination of respiratory complications of obesity. Effect of sitting vs standing posture on spirometry in children
Asthma is a common medical condition that affects adults and children. National asthma guidelines (National Institutes of Health) recommend spirometry, a pulmonary function test, as an essential part of the initial diagnosis and follow-up care of asthma. Per the American Thoracic Society, traditionally spirometry is performed with the patient in the sitting posture, but usually it is not documented on the spirometry report. During the past 25 years, the rates of overweight and obesity have increased by 30% to 400% among 2- to 19-year-old.

Relation of ghrelin, obestatin levels and ghrelin/obestatin ratio with asthma
Conclusions: Ghrelin, obestatin levels and ghrelin/obestatin ratio were similar to the control group in stable asthmatic patients in this study. Although they were similar in terms of body mass index and waist circumference length; homa score were significantly higher in patients with asthma.
