Intra-Arterial Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke Related to the Procoagulant Effect of Warfarin in A Patient with Atrial Fibrillation and Bioprosthetic Valve Replacement
CONCLUSION: This report describes the roles of endovascular therapy and NOAC in patients with similar highly complex conditions and has clinical relevance for therapeutic plans in the clinical setting.PMID:37674421

Intracardiac Thrombus Following Rivaroxaban Treatment in a Patient with Atrial Fibrillation Associated with Rheumatic Heart Disease
We report a case of atrial fibrillation with rheumatic heart disease (RHD) who had intracardiac thrombus and cardiogenic cerebral embolism with rivaroxaban therapy. Intracardiac thrombus disappeared after switching from rivaroxaban to warfarin. Patients of RHD have the possibility of gradual progression of valvular disease even if they are old, so we need to distinguish nonvalvular atrial fibrillation from RHD before starting direct oral anticoagulants.

Pre-stroke warfarin enhancement of collateralization in acute ischemic stroke: a retrospective study
Warfarin therapies not only are used to prevent stroke in patients with high risk of cardioembolism such as patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD), but also was associated wit...

Cor Triatriatum and Stroke: A Case Report and Review of Literature (P3.294)
Conclusions:This is the largest review of CTS cases with associated stroke. The review showed neuroimaging results consistent with a cardioembolic mechanism. All but two of the cases made use of anticoagulation. Three cases underwent surgery. This case has the longest follow-up and the first to demonstrate failure of anti-platelet therapy and anticoagulation. The need for further investigations regarding optimal stroke prevention in this subset of patients is emphasized.Disclosure: Dr. Diestro has nothing to disclose. Dr. Espiritu has nothing to disclose. Antithrombotic therapy for ischaemic stroke patients with AF/RHD in West China daily practice.
CONCLUSION: Our study suggests that overall real-world use of warfarin in IS patients with AF and/or RHD is low before and after admission in West China. Implementation study on this respect should be conducted in this area to improve the daily practice. PMID: 26178783 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
