Global Economic Burden Associated with Chronic Kidney Disease: A Pragmatic Review of Medical Costs for the Inside CKD Research Programme
CONCLUSION: Globally, CKD carries a significant economic burden, which increases substantially with increasing disease severity. We identified significant gaps in published costs and inconsistent costing definitions. Cost-effective interventions that target primary prevention and disease progression are essential to reduce CKD burden. Our results can be used to guide cost collection and facilitate better comparisons across countries/regions to inform healthcare policy.PMID:37493856 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02608-9

Association of intradialytic hypertension with future cardiovascular events and mortality in hemodialysis patients: effects of ambulatory blood pressure
CONCLUSIONS: IDHTN patients had higher risk for mortality and cardiovascular outcomes but this risk is at least partly confounded by the elevated BP levels during the interdialytic period.PMID:37302385 | DOI:10.1159/000531477

Pitavastatin Compared with Differential Intervention Trial by Standard Therapy on Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Dyslipidemia on Chronic Hemodialysis (DIALYSIS): A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion: Our study has demonstrated that aggressive intervention with pitavastatin is more effective than the standard (dietary) therapy for improving the clinical outcomes in patients with dyslipidemia on chronic hemodialysis.Blood Purif

The Effects of Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists on Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With End ‐Stage Renal Disease and Heart Failure
ConclusionsIn patients undergoing regular dialysis who are diagnosed with heart failure, the use of MRAs is associated with lower risks of all-cause mortality and CV death. The benefits of MRA treatment in heart failure may persist in patients with ESRD. Further investigations through randomized controlled trials are needed to assess the efficacy and safety of MRAs in this high-risk population. This article is protected by copyright.
