CYP2C19 Loss-of-Function Variants Associated with Long-term Ischemic Stroke Events During Clopidogrel Treatment in the Chinese Population
This study aims to determine whether CYP2C19 loss-of-function (LoF) variants were associated with long-term ischemic stroke risk in Chinese primary care patients treated with clopidogrel. Patients treated with clopidogrel were ascertained from a Chinese Electronic Medical Record linked with biobank for a retrospective cohort study. Acetylsalicylic Acid (aspirin) for Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Diabetes: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
CONCLUSION: Aspirin use in patients with DM reduces the composite endpoint of CV death, non-fatal MI and stroke compared with a placebo. However, routine use of aspirin for primary prevention among diabetic patients cannot be advised due to the increased risk of major bleeding. The THEMIS Study (Effect of Ticagrelor on Health Outcomes in Diabetes Mellitus Patients) was a phase 3 randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial from 2014 to 2016. Treatment of the New Era: Long-Term Ticagrelor Monotherapy for the Treatment of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Meta-analysis
ConclusionLong-term ticagrelor monotherapy after a short course of DAPT use showed better results in patients with T2DM following PCI. Therefore, ticagrelor monotherapy after a short course of DAPT use could be considered an evolution in antiplatelet therapy of this decade for the treatment of patients with T2DM after PCI. However, newer studies with a larger population size and cost-effectiveness are factors that should further be considered.

Incidence of atrial fibrillation in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSIONS: Annually, 1 in 200 elderly Japanese patients with T2D are estimated to develop AF.
