Comparison of Health-Related Quality of Life Changes in Prostate Cancer Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic versus Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy: A Systematic review
CONCLUSION: Both robotic-assisted and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy are valid treatment options to achieve a good quality of life following surgery. The intermediate and long-term results in regard to QoL are comparable between the two procedures. RALRP might be superior to LRP in terms of immediate health-related quality of life, which might contribute to early recovery of urinary function.PMID:37727913 | DOI:10.22037/uj.v20i.7707

Prehabilitative versus rehabilitative exercise in prostate cancer patients undergoing prostatectomy
CONCLUSION: Pre-surgical exercise enhanced strength and function, protecting against post-surgery declines. Although exercise post-surgery is beneficial for recouping strength and function, where possible men undergoing prostatectomy are encouraged to exercise pre-surgery.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ACTRN12617001115325 registered 31 July 2017.PMID:37712960 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05409-3

Multimodal Pain Control Utilizing Buprenorphine for Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy: A Quality Improvement Comparison to Conventional Opioid Management
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates buprenorphine's analgesic capabilities to maintain adequate pain control and patient satisfaction compared to conventional opioids during robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy, while decreasing perioperative opioid use.PMID:37498667 | DOI:10.1097/UPJ.0000000000000436

Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) in Post-Prostatectomy Patients: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
J Clin Med. 2023 Jun 11;12(12):3979. doi: 10.3390/jcm12123979.ABSTRACTRadical prostatectomy (RP) is one of the recommended treatments to achieve oncological outcomes in localized prostate cancer. However, a radical prostatectomy is a major abdominopelvic surgery. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a well-known complication associated with surgical procedures, including RP. There is a lack of consensus regarding VTE prophylaxis in urological procedures. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate different aspects of VTE in post-radical prostatectomy patients. A comprehensive literature search was pe...

Institutional trends and safety profile of same-day discharge for robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy: A retrospective analysis
CONCLUSION: In our health system, the use of SDD is safe and currently composes of half of our RALP volume. With the advent of the hospital-at-home services, we anticipate that almost all our RALP cases will be SDD.PMID:37286403 | DOI:10.1016/j.urolonc.2023.05.013
