Patient Characteristics, Testing and Treatment Patterns, and Outcomes in EGFR-Mutated Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Multinational, Real-World Study
CONCLUSION: This real-world multinational data set showed that most patients with EGFRm+ aNSCLC were treated per the country relevant clinical guidelines, with progression as the main reason for early treatment discontinuation. For the included countries, these findings may offer a useful benchmark for decision makers to determine future allocation of healthcare resources for patients with EGFRm+ aNSCLC.PMID:37221352 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02530-0

Duodenal bleeding due to metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma controlled by radiotherapy: A case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: GI metastases are rare in lung cancer and present nonspecific symptoms and signs but no characteristic endoscopic features. GI bleeding is a common revelatory complication. Pathological and immunohistological findings are critical to diagnosis. Local treatment is usually guided by the occurrence of complications. In addition to surgery and systemic therapies, palliative radiotherapy may contribute to bleeding control. However, it must be used cautiously, given a present-day lack of evidence and the pronounced radiosensitivity of certain gastrointestinal tract segments.PMID:36868976 | DOI:10.1016/j.rmr.2023.02.003

Updates on Surgical Treatment for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
Am Surg. 2023 Feb 14:31348231157414. doi: 10.1177/00031348231157414. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common condition that is on the rise. Obesity is one risk factor that has increased in parallel with the rise of GERD. Typical symptoms include heartburn, regurgitation, dysphagia, cough, and chest pain. Patients with typical symptoms are empirically treated with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). If the diagnosis is not clear, further evaluation is performed with endoscopy, pH monitoring, and esophageal manometry. Untreated GERD increases the risk of esophagitis, esophageal stricture, ...

Niger J Clin Pract. 2022 Oct;25(10):1758-1761. doi: 10.4103/njcp.njcp_1357_21.ABSTRACTAn extremely rare disease with a slow course, actinomycosis has a high mortality risk when not properly treated.
